Chapter 87: Weird

In the afternoon, Mavis brought Night White to the Adventure Hall. With Mavis's identity as an S-rank adventurer, the awakening room was quickly arranged. This time it was the same old man as before!

"It's only been two months that your brother has already reached the high rank! I'm afraid this cultivation speed is the best of his generation!" The old man laughed.

"Does it count? There are many guys better than me. At best, I'm in the middle and lower level!" Night White replied.

The old man stroked his beard and smiled towards Night White.

"Kid, prepare for your third awakening!" The old man placed the awakening stone in front of Night White.

Night White placed his hand on the awakening stone and slowly closed his eyes.

It’s dark here and Night White couldn't see anything. So could it be that the awakening had failed?

Time went by quickly. Then a weird black shadow stood in front of Night White, the black shadow was changing constantly. Sometimes it looked like Iris, and then it looked like Night White. It kept switching between the two.

Gradually the shadow split into two. One is the outline of Iris , and the other is the outline of Night White. Two shadows occupied half of Consciousness Space each.

In the shadow of Iris, there was a little scarlet, giving a vague sense of blood. In the shadow of Night White, there was like a bottomless black pool. There is a white line that separates the two shadows in the middle, making the two shadows non-intrusive to each other.

Night White slowly opened his eyes, had some doubts, but did not know how to say.

"Dark Shadow System! Quite suitable for you, brother!" Mavis patted Night White's back hard.

If not for a table in front of him, Night White nearly fell to the ground.

The old man stroked his beard, smiled towards Night White, and did not make a reply.

"Let's go! School is about to start. Go home and get ready!"

"Okay!" Night White replied carelessly, seemingly still immersed in the scene of awakening.

After the old man watched the two leave, he muttered, "There's something wrong with that child's state just now. Did he fall into the Dark Shadow's embrace?"

"Forget it. I'm just an old man in charge of awakening. I just hope I can enjoy my life in peace!"

The old man picked up the tea brewed on the table and savored the taste of it.

"Night White! Why do you seem to be distracted? Do you not like the Dark Shadow System? But this is already an unchangeable fact." Mavis said.

"No! I feel that this Dark Shadow System is weird. According to Miss. Moire, Consciousness Space of Dark Shadow System is black, and there should be a shadow in it."

"That's right! Could it be that you have two?" Mavis snickered.

"You guess right!"

Mavis: "..."

Night White pointed to Mavis's shadow and said, "The shadow should fall on the ground, but my two shadows are not. They have their own facial features, just like flesh and blood 'human'."

"It's indeed a bit strange!"

"More than that, those outlines of two shadows are Iris and Night White! In the middle, there is a white line separating Consciousness Space, each occupying half of it and not infringing on the other. The area belonging to the shadow of Iris has some blood red color, while the shadow of Night White is a bottomless black pool." Night White described the scene of his awakening to Mavis in detail.

Mavis can't answer these questions for a while. So she said to Night White calmly: "Maybe your Dark Shadow System will come with some special abilities! I'll write a letter to my aunt later and let her solve your problems."

Night White nodded, and then Mavis led Night White go shopping.

The winter dusk is cloaked in a dark red color, and impetuous mood adorns the entire mind, leaving no room for sensible thoughts.

Under the dusk, the snow on the road cloaked in a dark red veil. Lou dragged his frail body walking through the streets, and looked sick. Who would have thought that a young knight would become so weak that a beggar would be able to knock him down with a punch.

The afterglow of the setting sun shone on Lou's face, making his face look slightly flushed.

"Lou?" A slightly familiar female voice came from behind him.

Lou turned his head to look at the woman behind him and froze for a moment. He seemingly remembered what the woman in front of him was called.

"Linda?" Lou said a little slowly, apparently not quite sure.

"Is it hard to recognize me? We haven't seen each other for only seven years. What have you been doing for the past seven years? Why isn't there any information about you? It's like you've evaporated from this world... Have you been making money secretly?" Linda's face always had a smile on it.

"Ha Ha Ha." Lou smiled toward Linda.

"Do I look like I'm getting rich? Even if I am rich, how can my assets compare to your Karami family! An ordinary person can knock me to the ground these days." Lou sighed.

"Cut the crap! You're the strongest mage in our class." Apparently Linda thought Lou was joking.

"I was indeed the strongest before but it doesn't mean I am very strong now! Someone will always be much stronger than me. Opportunity is something that can come and go, but it's not always good."

"Is that so?" Linda showed a suspicious look. "You had me fooled back then. Why do I get the feeling you're starting tricks to fool me again?"

Lou scratched his head, easing the awkwardness, "It's all passed. Not worthy of mentioning."

"By the way, what have you been doing for the past two years? Is there any beautiful girls crush on you?" Linda gradually began to gossip.

"Secret! I'll tell you in a little while. As for whether there is a young girl crush on me, the answer is, of course, YES. You're not still single now, are you? I heard that the Buick's kids are already walking."

"Fuck off! Fuck off! Stop talking too much." Linda said impatiently.

"It seems to be poking your pain points." Lou pointed ahead and said, "Can you see two dogs ahead ..."

Before Lou finished speaking, Linda swung her fist toward Lou, and Lou didn't even react to it in time. So Lou was knocked on the ground by this ordinary punch, and there was some blood stained in his mouth.

Linda hurriedly helped Lou up and asked: "Are you all right? Or should I take you to the hospital right now?"

Lou used his sleeve to wipe the blood from the corner of his mouth and said, "It's not a problem! I'll be fine after resting for a while. It turns out that I am already weak and frail."

Linda helped Lou into a restaurant and let Lou rest. By the way, Linda ordered a few more tonic dishes for Lou.

"What have you been through in the past seven years to make you look weak and frail? Why did you leave Tiandu Academy without graduating?"

Faced with Linda's various questions, Lou was silent, not knowing how to answer them to the woman in front of him.

Lou suddenly grinned: "It's all in the past. Why do you ask so many questions? Eat quickly! If you don't eat, it will taste not good."

Obviously Lou did not want Linda to know about the lock. After all, the fewer people know about the lock, the better.

Besides, Linda is a kind woman. Although Linda said that she didn’t care about Lou, she will use all the forces to help him out privately. It may also bring unnecessary trouble to her family.

Seeing Lou insisted not to tell the truth, Linda did not inquire further. The two just quietly ate a meal and then left.
