13. Lessons in Victory

Humans have been rushing towards me once they saw me regardless of life. They constantly poked my shield with lances and iron swords, and finally threw a rain of arrows toward me. The scene was extremely grand, and the human within fifty meters all perished. Even though I concentrated on defense, there were still a few arrows through the shield, piercing me.

It's a little arduous for one person to fight so many people.

I drove the magic in my body. Along with the intense stabbing pain, the bows and arrows were ejected from my body, but the wound quickly healed. This pain is nothing for me now.

The person who can release such powerful magic is probably the BOSS of Hivis City. I'll go back to find him later when I open the city gates.

I could hear the demon army outside the city had already trooped to the city gates, and many human soldiers were crowding in front of the city gates.

"It's Ilotia! Kill her!!!"

The human soldier in the lead yelled and swung his long sword, and the humans behind him all shouted and rushed towards me.

But don't forget that I was a bomb myself.

Blue beams of light swept through the human soldiers, while blood rained down from the sky.

Finally I blasted the city gates and turned to find the man who hurt me.

...

------- ----

It just took a day to take the Hivis City.

It was getting ready for morning, and it was drizzling outside. The demon soldiers were clearing the battlefield and starting to take over the city.

When I managed to kill the lord of Hivis City and went back to the master, the master looked at me indifferently. She didn’t compliment me as I wished. All of a sudden, my fervent hope extinguished.

Now we are in the lobby of the human city lord's house. The master was sitting upright in the city lord's big chair, and I changed into clean clothes, as well as stood in front of the master guiltily.

I know the master is angry now. I stood in front of the master and thought for a long time. In the end, I know what the reason for her anger is. The reason is very simple. That is, I was injured in this battle.

Although the wound has also long since healed itself, admittedly, it was an unchangeable fact that I was injured in the battle.

There was much guilt in my heart, but more joy were hidden in it.

Because the master was angry at my injury. I think the master was afraid that something bad would happen to me.

This feeling of being cared for is really warm. Even though I know that my master is afraid that I will have an accident in the battle and I am not as good as the humans in the process of taking the human kingdom and I will lose the battle one day, I am still very happy.

Although I am happy, it does not mean that I have not reflected on myself.

I am inexperienced, and I am easily complacent, which will be my fatal flaw.

I was already wounded when I attacked an insignificant and mediocre lord of Hivis City. If I didn't have the ability to heal myself, these wounds would have been fatal for me.

"Master...I was wrong."

"Tell me why you were wrong."

"I shouldn't have rushed to the city of Hivis alone, and I shouldn't have been so eager to succeed. I am still inexperienced in war. What I should do is to help the demon army, not to just defeat the humans with my own strength."

My words carried deep guilt as well as sincerity so that the master eased down gradually.

"I just want the master to recognize me and trust me as soon as possible, so I'm in a hurry to prove myself."

"All right."

The master took a deep breath and stood up from her chair.

"I'm going to inspect their work. There is no more business for you."

The implication was that the class was over and I was free to go.

"Master, I'll follow you."

The master looked at me with a slightly puzzled expression.

Usually when the master reads my mind, she knows that I want to be alone, but this time I want to go with her.

"Because I want to learn more from my master. Maybe I can help my master manage the country in the future. This way the master will not be so tired."

The master nodded and led the way.

--------

Heath Relia was counting. When she saw us, she just smiled.

"Lord Demon King, most of the human inhabitants in the city evacuated before the siege started. The only ones captured were human soldiers, and the casualty count of our demon race is low this time."

"Em."

The master nodded.

I looked at Heath Relia suspiciously, a little puzzled by the matter of the human inhabitants withdrawing.

Heath Relia, perhaps guessing my doubt, spoke up to explain.

"Humans know that this battle is bound to lose. So they think that it is the right choice to evacuate the residents. Why did they still leave the soldiers in the city of Hivis to hold on? I think it is out of dignity. Even if they lose in the end, humans think that they keep their dignity before the battle."

No wonder those human soldiers not only saw me without any fear, but they were also so aggressive and wanted to rush up to kill me. It turns out that they all hold the heart of certain death.

I have to show a little admiration for the human soldiers.

But we still won. From noon to the early morning, we has taken the human city of Hivis within a day. So we are more encouraged, right?

"In the meantime, there are not enough resource reserves for many days in Hivis City. Should we wait for back-up or continue raiding the next city without stopping?"

After thinking in silence for a moment, the master nodded.

"Start preparing for the next war. Now we have Ilotia, so it won’t take long for the siege wars."

Without asking me if I could continue the next war, the master made the decision for me.

So is the next war going to start again?
