Is the master brutal?

In a way it is somewhat brutal, specifically in terms of excessive punishment.

But is this brutality just to show the majesty of the lord of a country?

Now I don't feel that the master is cruel.

Since the last time the master punished me, she did not show me that cold expression of looking at a stranger.

After getting closer to the master and getting to know her a little, I realized that I can't look at her too simply.

The warm touch remaining on my head is not cruel, but a little gentle.

"Even if it is cruel, it is not possible to be cruel unknowingly. At best it is under the premise that the other party has made a mistake. There is a reason for the master's cruelty."

"Hmm. So do you know what I should do with Vinales?"

"To kill her, of course."

No sooner had the words left my mouth, however, than the master shook her head and smiled slightly.

"Do you think Nora will bear to let Vinales die? When the time comes, it's not only Vinales who will die. Understand?"

My eyes widened in surprise, which meant that Nora might fight to protect Vinales when the time came.

"Are you going to spare Vinales, master?"

"Well, because Nora is useful to us. I punish Vinales to stabilize my power. Nora has strength so it is better for me to make good use of her. After all, there are not many people who are stronger than Nora."

If that's the case, it's acceptable.

Looking at the master as if everything is under her control, I did not complain much more. After all, the victim doesn’t have any complaints about it, so it is useless for me to sulk again.

Indeed, I can not rely too blindly on my power. Letting Vinales to live is also to keep Nora. After all, Nora in the battlefield is able to gain the upper hand.

Since the master can be so calm and rational, will she really attack the human kingdom for the reason of personal hatred?

----------

Not surprisingly the next day there were rumors that the master didn’t kill Vinales.

I ran into Lumia again while wandering around the house. I tried to turn my head and leave, however, Lumia saw me and ran over to greet me.

"Ilotia, did you hear that the Demon King spared General Vinales?"

Standing face to face, Lumia’s expression was full of joy.

"I know."

And it was the master who told me.

"It's really thanks to General Heath Relia."

"What?"

I was a little confused by Lumia's words. What does she mean ?

"It's Heath Relia who asked Lord Demon King to give General Vinales another chance, and then it worked. Sometimes I think how General Heath Relia who is such a gentle person can get so close to such a brutal demon lord and doesn’t have any conflicts yet."

"How could it possible be that Heath Relia persuaded the master to do so? It was clearly the master's own decision."

But Lumia just smiled and waved her hand.

"Ilotia, are you kidding? How could the brutal Demon Lord spare Vinales so mercifully? I even heard General Heath Relia say that she persuaded the Demon Lord."

"No?"

"That's it. Hey, it's a great honor for me to work under General Heath Relia, but I'm a little sad that General Heath Relia didn't persuade Lord Demon King about the state system."

Looking at Lumia's smiling face, I was a bit confused.

"Goodbye, Lumia. Talk to you later sometime."

"Eh? Is there something urgent? Okay, bye."

The sound of Lumia's goodbye rang out behind me.

I went straight to the place where Heath Relia usually works.

It was in the front part of the city lord's house with a meeting room.

The door to the meeting room was closed and I guessed the master was inside. They were in a meeting, and I was told by the soldier standing guard at the door.

I lingered at the door for a moment, then turned my head and left.

It was better not to disturb Heath Relia at work. I would find her when she was free in the evening.

As night fell, I stepped out of my room with the creaking of my master's door.

The master's return also meant that Heath Relia had finished her work.

The soldiers passing by greeted me as I headed to where Heath Relia lived. I responded to them all indifferently.

I knocked on the door

It didn't take long for Heath Relia to open the door.

Still with an elegant smile on her face, Heath Relia was not surprised by my arrival.

"Ilotia, good evening."

Originally I was in a hurry, but I was infected by Heath Relia's calmness, so I awkwardly said “good evening” to Heath Relia.

"Come in and talk about what's going on."

I walked into Heath Relia's room.

A white glow from the jewel at the top of the room filled the room, and the windows were closed. Like most rooms in the house, there was a table in the middle of the house.

"Sit."

I pulled out the chair under the table, and Heath Relia waited for me to sit down before sitting in the chair on the other side.

I'm actually pretty high up, right?

Everyone except the master treated me with respect, but I can't rule out that it was because Heath Relia was polite.

Heath Relia poured tea for me personally. Watched the tea steaming hot, I knew that the tea has been brewed before I arrived.

"Is it about the demon lord?"

I held my cup in both hands and nodded. I don't think we had much in common at all except for the matter of my master.

Looking up, I saw Heath Relia's faintly elegant smile, giving a sense of approachability.

"Is it true that you advised the master about Vinales?"

I just feel deeply unworthy for the master, because the credit goes to Heath Relia. In the end the master still looks brutal in the eyes of the people.

But looking at Heath Relia's kind face, I couldn't get angry again. In front of Heath Relia there was an inexplicable feeling that I could be patient.

"No, I didn't do anything."

"Then why is the rumor in the outside different to what you said?"

"Because Furtoril ordered me to do so. She ordered me to put the credit on me for sparing Vinales."

"Why?"

This result was even more unbelievable to me. Why did the master dump the decision of this matter on Heath Relia, while she took the blame for the brutality?

Yet Heath Relia still answered me calmly.

"What will happen once rumor gets out that the Demon Lord will spare her assassins so mercifully?"

I shook my head.

"As you know, many people are dissatisfied with Furtoril's rule, but are afraid of the severe punishment they will receive if they are caught due to rebellion. When the demon king is no longer cruel, the deterrent effect will also be greatly reduced. At that time, many people who have dissatisfaction with the demon king may plan a rebellion. In the outside the rumors are said that I painstakingly persuaded the King to give Vinales a way out. But the fact that the King is cruel remains unchanged. If someone makes a mistake again and want to gain the forgiveness of the devil king, the only way is to beg me for help, As is known to all, I am the devil king's closest general. Although I'm kind to people, it is very difficult to flatter me. Understand?"

"Hmm."

So that's how it is, and there's so much more reasons involved.

Somewhat lost, I lowered my head.

It felt like I was a fool. I don’t understand anything, and is always confused by my own emotions.

I don’t keep a clear mind about everything and am always led by my emotions.

If I could be as calm as my master and Heath Relia, and could help my master in the management, it would be better.

"In fact, Furtoril is also forced to be cruel. It’s not easy to be the demon king. Being a demon king means to give up many things. I said it to you before. When Furtoril was a child, she was more gentle and talkative than me. So which is the real her? It doesn't really matter. You just watch her well and understand her."

"But I feel like I can't help with anything other than being able to fight in the war."

Perhaps sensing my loss and remorse, Heath Relia replied in a soft tone.

"You've done a good job, and Furtoril is satisfied with you. There's no need to ask too much of yourself. At least you can make her happy in front of you, but not many people can do that."

Heath Relia, indeed, was very gentle.

Looking up at her, I guess I would have fallen into Heath Relia's tenderness if my heart wasn't occupied by the master.

So I intended to pour out the disbelief in my heart to my spiritual teacher.

"Why is the master still unwilling to read my mind ?"

"Why should she read your mind?"

I looked at Heath Relia in confusion, and she explained to me with a slight smile.

"Just think about it in the other way. When you pray to Furtoril to read your mind and she doesn't want to, doesn't it mean that she already trusts you? Doesn't it mean that she is giving you more freedom?"

"But I don't need freedom. I just need to stay by my master's side."

Heath Relia shook her head.

"You need time to adapt to it slowly. Wouldn't it be better to wait for the day when you can reach the tacit agreement with your master to know each other's inner thoughts rather than relying on the contract?"

Instantly I gained the enlightenment.

I couldn't help but show a smile and yearn for what Heath Relia said.

"This is the opportunity I have worked so hard to get for you, so don't let me down."

"What opportunity?"

I looked at Heath Relia in confusion.

"Why do you think Furtoril who has always turned away from people allowed you to be near her?"

I nodded.

Was it because of Heath Relia that the master was so nice to me? I felt a little lost because the master didn’t voluntarily let me close to her. But if it was too easy for me to approach the master, it were not my master.

"I will definitely cherish this opportunity."

"I'm looking forward to it."

Heath Relia is still smiling, but I can feel the difference in it. This time the light smile is not because of etiquette, but a smile from the heart.

If I had been able to talk to Heath Relia earlier, would I not have had to make so many mistakes?

But everything has faded away.

Now that it's gone and missed, so I can only cherish what I have now.

I look forward with hope.
