Chapter 5: One Person, One Word, One Lifetime 2
update icon Updated at 2025/2/25 5:10:12

Although there were only six security guards, their positions were very scattered. In order to take them all down, they needed to be grouped together.

The method I proposed was to start a fire.

Creating a small fire in the bushes was not difficult. The challenge was how to put out the fire after it started.

Of course, I had already considered this before coming up with the plan.

I thought it would be a difficult point.

But no one asked.

As soon as I proposed the idea of starting a fire, Fan immediately took out the tools for starting a fire, and then took out a shovel to dig a hole in an open area. Uesugi Yui and Souren Manranyama scattered to gather dry branches.

They filled the hole with branches, lit them on fire, and that's how the fire started.

Throughout the whole process, they acted quickly and smoothly, and because they ignored me, I didn't do anything to watch for any threats.

Their actions to create the fire were exactly as I had envisioned, leaving me speechless.

After the fire started, the thick black smoke immediately caught the attention of the security guards, and the six of them gathered together.

"I'll go to the side and shoot arrows. It's downwind and has a better angle."

Uesugi Yui picked up her folding bow and stealthily moved.

"In that case, I'll cover you with Fan near you in case of any unexpected situations. The frontal attack is up to you, Uesugi."

Souren Manranyama said this and left with Fan.

Meanwhile, after a brief discussion, three of the guards ran towards the fire, while the other three stayed behind, watchful of their surroundings.

The three who ran towards me, the one in the front was carrying a shovel, and the two behind were each holding a fire extinguisher.

As for me, I was unarmed, and even the iron shovel I used to dig the hole was "conveniently" taken by Fan.

Well, it wasn't a big crisis. Even "Ziongzong" could handle such a situation, let alone me.

When the team extinguishing the fire came close enough to the bushes where I was hiding, meaning when both the front and back pairs were at a sufficient distance, starting with Uesugi Yui shooting arrows to take down the person guarding the rear, I rushed out from the bushes. I punched and took down the guy in the front, took his shovel, and knocked down another guard with it. I picked up his electric baton and dodged the fire extinguisher being thrown at me, and stunned the last remaining guard with the electric baton.

After I finished that, I happened to see Uesugi Yui's arrow hitting the thigh of the last guard of the remaining team.

I was a bit surprised and speechless.

It's not that I didn't believe in Uesugi Yui's Kyudo skills. I had witnessed it in "Ziongzong" memories. What I was worried about was whether Uesugi Yui could shoot arrows with sharp arrowheads and anesthetic toxin at these guards, real living people.

But she did it. Three arrows, three guards, all hitting non-vital areas.

As a middle school girl, is Uesugi Yui a bit too amazing?

Perhaps "Ziongzong" and I know too little about Uesugi Yui.

There's no time to think about this now. The girls and I tied up the unconscious guards together and left them in the bushes. Before leaving, Fan took out six syringes and injected the guards with an unknown substance, then smiled and told me, "You don't need to worry about them bothering us before the mission ends, Uesugi-san."

The personal attendant of the Wàn Lánshān family is really terrifying.

With that, the infiltration mission entered the second phase.

The four of us changed into the uniforms of the guards and entered through the main gate openly.

Regarding the guard uniforms, it goes without saying that I was the one who took them off, while the girls happily watched out for any disturbances.

Yes, I just wanted to clarify that.

After entering the warehouse, the first thing we saw was the previous convoy of trucks, parked in a row with their cargo boxes open, ready to be loaded and leave at any time.

As we expected, the other convoy that was supposed to exchange with this one could not arrive on time due to last night's heavy rain, which gave us some extra time for our operation.

"Let's first separate and check the situation here. Meet back at the entrance in five minutes, and we'll split into two pairs like last time."

Under my command, we began a quick search of the entrance area of the warehouse.

The inside of the warehouse was even quieter than the outside. We proceeded stealthily, but after five minutes, it became apparent that there was not a single person in the entrance area.

I didn't expect there to be absolutely no one... This situation, unexpected yet expected, made us uneasy.

Nevertheless, there were still people inside the warehouse. Apart from the six guards we had just taken care of, there should be guards on rotation, the truck driver, the loaders, and the necessary clerks who managed the warehouse.

There were probably around ten to twenty personnel, and it could be optimistically assumed that there were very few personnel who could pose a serious threat to our operation.

"Let's take advantage of the lack of people and check if there's anything suspicious on the truck," I suggested.

Although the possibility of finding anything was slim, it would be a good opportunity for everyone to relax together. Because once we proceeded further into the warehouse, encountering warehouse personnel was inevitable, and it would be difficult to take another break then.

The inspection yielded no results, just as expected. However, everyone was prepared for this outcome and did not become disheartened.

After regaining our spirits, we gathered together and proceeded towards the interior of the warehouse.

Passing through the entrance area, we encountered a large area of storage shelves and several older forklifts neatly parked nearby. On the other side of the shelves was a relatively spacious lounge, with its lights on. From a distance, we could see people moving about in the lounge.

"There are eight people in the room. Three playing cards, two playing pool, and three drinking and chatting. Judging from their uniforms, they should be the same people who drove the truck yesterday," Van reported the situation in the room using binoculars.

I must ask her later about her skills in carrying a large number of props.

Looking further up from the lounge, there were several more rooms, which, according to the warehouse layout we knew so far, were likely used by warehouse staff and managers. There might be evidence of criminal activity there, such as files, records of goods entering and leaving, and so on.

There was no direct route from the storage shelves area to those rooms; we had to pass through a spacious corridor on the side. If we encountered someone in the corridor, there would be no way to avoid it.

I exchanged glances with the girls behind me. They all looked relaxed and signaled for me to go ahead while they followed "in charge" in the back.

Since everyone could "trust" me like this, I naturally had to take the lead.

The lighting in the corridor was well-arranged, and the visibility was good. I walked in front, with Souren Manranyama and Van following behind me. Uesugi Yui, holding a folding bow, walked to my left rear, so she could respond to any encounters at the right turn ahead.

Just as we were about halfway through the corridor, a girl I had recently met appeared at the corner.

As soon as we saw her, it was clear that she also saw us. Her expression was slightly surprised but quickly turned excited.

"I didn't expect the so-called intruders would be you," Bailuo Yuyu shouted towards me from a distance.

"Well, I'm truly sorry. If you wouldn't mind, could you step aside?" I politely said unrealistic words.

Since Bailuo Yuyu appeared here, it meant that she knew what her father was doing. From her position, it was impossible for her to peacefully coexist with us.

"Why should I step aside? I won't let you." Bailuo Yuyu casually threw her bag to the side and pulled out a pair of brass knuckles from her pocket, approaching us.

Are you kidding me? Brass knuckles are such a brutal weapon. If I get punched in the face, it would ruin my appearance.

But for someone like me, a punch might be considered plastic surgery?

Joking aside, Bailuo Yuyu was now less than thirty meters away from us. I looked back at the girls, hoping for some advice.

"What's going on, Ziongzong? Do you know this girl?" Uesugi Yui stared at me.

"Uesugi seems to know many girls," Souren Manranyama remarked with a smile.

"Based on my investigation, when we came to Kyoto..." Van said, holding a small notebook.

Although I'm not sure to what extent she has investigated, Fan seems to have something important to say, so I quickly interrupted her to make her stop.

"Ladies, now is not the time to focus on this issue. She just mentioned the word 'intruder,' which means our actions have been exposed!"

I tried to emphasize the urgency of the situation.

"That's stating the obvious, Ziongzong." Uesugi Yui looked at me with a puzzled expression.

"Indeed, it is stating the obvious, Uesugi-san." Souren Manranyama said expressionlessly.

"..." Fan hesitated to speak and smiled at me.

During this meaningless conversation, Bai Xuyu had already approached within twenty meters. Perhaps she was wary of Uesugi Yui's folding bow, so her approach slowed down, and she clasped her hands with knuckledusters in a defensive stance in front of her chest.

"Since it has come to a situation where we have to fight, are you all going to attack together or one by one?"

Bai Xuyu challenged us.

"Leave this to me, you all go ahead."

I signaled the girls to go first. From what I knew, Bai Yaxin didn't have any fighting ability, and besides, Souren Manranyama had cards to play against her.

As for Bai Xuyu, although I was reluctant to fight a girl, I occasionally had no choice. It was a last resort.

Just as I was about to step forward, someone pulled my clothes from behind.

"What are you saying? Let us take care of this. You should go first."

The person pulling my clothes was Uesugi Yui, representing the other two girls, expressing their opinion.

"Are you sure?"

My subconscious response didn't go through my mind.

As a result, it earned me a unanimous disdainful expression from the three girls.

"Of course, we're sure." Uesugi Yui answered me disdainfully.

"Don't worry, Uesugi-san." Souren Manranyama answered me disdainfully.

"I will take care of them both, you don't need to worry, Uesugi-san." Fan answered me disdainfully as well.

I was deeply moved and tearfully thanked them for being so reliable.

Going back to the point, with Uesugi Yui's personality, she would never make promises she wasn't sure of; as for Souren Manranyama, she only fought battles she knew she could win; as for Fan, she was the most reliable of the three, without elaboration.

Since that's the case, even though I still had some worries, I chose to trust them and handed Bai Xuyu over to them to handle.

"Sorry, Bai Xuyu, I have to go ahead."

I quickened my pace, but Bai Xuyu showed no intention of letting me pass. She changed directions and approached me. When the distance between us was less than five meters, I pretended to change direction and increase my speed, passing straight through her.

After passing Bai Xuyu, I once again increased my pace. The time everyone had fought for me was not cherished and used with a guilty conscience.

After a few steps, I glanced back, and it seemed that Bai Xuyu wanted to chase after me, but immediately remembered Uesugi Yui with the bow and gave up on me and turned to deal with the three girls instead.

When I reached the corner, I heard the sound of an arrow leaving the bowstring, followed by a sharp sound of metal colliding and rubbing against each other.

It was probably the sound of Bai Xuyu blocking Uesugi Yui's arrow with her knuckledusters.

Bai Xuyu's skills had been tested numerous times and were indeed genuine.

But since I chose to trust, I couldn't worry anymore at this time. I restrained my desire to look back and stepped onto the stairs to the second floor.
