3. Kill them accidentally

"Sir, we have received word that the Lorrickstein has already dispatched people towards us, along with the United clans... Also including the Tosh and Corlaine clans... With a predicted six Silver level fighters, and over forty Bronze level ones." An elderly man in a butler's attire addressed the current head of the Sheffield family.

He was among the parties who had witnessed Larry’s summoning a week ago--the Sheffield family's butler, Huhton Tusk.

"Attempting to catch us off guard while Charlotte is absent, isn't it? I see. Even though royal succession would mean the demise of numerous clans throughout history, have these years come to call upon the Sheffield family?"

Rickleon sighed. The Sheffield family had been in existence for over a thousand years in the Kingdom of Puseclioreon, enduring alongside this ancient kingdom for such an extended period. Naturally, they also became an object of desire and their weakening state made them a target for those with ill intentions.

"Larry Kestan, Tosh and Corlaine are all nothing but fools. The real troubles are still observing us, ready to strike at the slightest opportunity.” Rickleon was staring out the window, the vast forest under the setting sun began to instill a mystique aura, leaving him to wonder how many people would wish to eradicate the Sheffield family once the night falls.

He's grown old, his own son and grandsons are in the capital taming those beasts' hearts, otherwise, the pack of starved wolves would have pounced upon the Sheffield family's territory a week ago.

He must ensure the family survives this crisis as long as he is still alive.

This matter does not entertain the concept of 'failure' because other than success, the Sheffield family has no way out.

The fate of any defeated clan is extremely miserable, with women becoming main assets in brothels, or serving as sexual slaves in the army, men lucky enough to escape death only suffer as miners living pettily for a few years.

"Sir, should the young lady's itinerary remain the same?"

"..." Rickleon closed his eyes and nodded.

"I believe that the highness will not let us down."

Thinking about the playful young man, Rickleon and Hutton both let out a helpless chuckle. Still, they were thinking about the miracle they witnessed personally that night.

According to their investigations, the number of civilians and servants that received blessings within their manor lands was numerous. Those old folks on their deathbeds, disabled warriors, all seemed to have rejuvenated after that night.

"I thought the young lady's summoning had failed," said Hutton regretfully.

"Haha, this might be fate. She was content herself, wasn't she?" Rickleon laughed heartily his gaze falling onto the court's lawn - where the chased Larry was embracing Charlotte.

"Indeed," Hutton replied with a smile.

---On the meadow

"Os, where were you at noon today? Why did I feel distant from you?" Charlotte's head was resting on Larry's lap, as she gazed at his face.

Larry traced his hand along her silky leg, then pointed towards the forest.

"I've never seen a noble's village before, so I took Griffin for a walk there," Larry answered honestly.

After a brief pause, Larry asked, "Charlotte, do your lands suffer from many robbers?"

"Why do you ask?" Charlotte looked at Larry with curiosity, "As a clan with a millennium legacy, Sheffield's domain is one of the most peaceful within the kingdom, we barely see any poachers, let alone thieves."

Hearing her words, Larry frowned.

"Today, I encountered a group of about sixty people, nine of them were 20 level... Silver, along with a bunch of Bronze men, their equipment was in poor condition, just like thieves. As soon as they saw me, they attacked without warning."

Upon hearing this, Charlotte also realized the seriousness of the situation coupled with the recent messages from the capital, she already had some idea.

"Where are they? You didn't get hurt, right?"Charlotte propped herself up and asked, wanting to inspect Larry's physical condition.

"...He's dead."

"…"

Larry thought he had displeased Charlotte by leaving no survivors, and quickly explained, "They... they wanted to rob me, but they were too weak, so I killed them."

"…"

Charlotte opened her mouth, only to close it again in a wordless disbelief.

It appeared her worries were unnecessary, but they were Silver-ranked fighters!

"Listen to me, here's what happened..."

--- At noon

"Griffin, do you think I might meet a beautiful young lady on the road, then play the part of a hero saving a beauty, eventually being rewarded with her heart?" chuckled Larry, astride a silver wolf; his first time outside the manor in a week.

The white wolf he was riding merely rolled its eyes, leisurely strolling down the forest path. Despite the comfortable manor where everything was attended to, nature was the home of the beast. Roaming in the forest made it quite happy.

In Larry's left hand was a roast chicken, in his right, he was flipping through a book called 'Annals of the Noen Continent'.

He had found the book in the library at noon. It was a record of the events that happened in Noen Continent after the last war of gods one thousand years ago. Of course, trivial matters were not included.

Larry had thought he simply traveled into a game, but he discovered that he was actually in a world a thousand years after the game setting.

What puzzled him was that even till now, there were no technologies like firearms. Cannons were only available in the magic form.

As Larry and the wolf leisurely headed towards the village, a group of people stopped Larry.

"…"

The silver wolf halted, and Larry, without lifting a gaze from his book, sensed danger from the wolf's low growl.

Speaking in terms of levels, this silver wolf was only a level fifteen scrub.

Sensing the wolf's unease, Larry resignedly handed the roast chicken to the wolf in consolation, then turned his sight to the people in front.

Their mismatched gears suggested they could be bandits. They seemed divided into three groups, with a few in the front discussing Larry's identity.

"The silver wolf… It must be the summoned beast of Miss Shefield from the Shefield family, right?"

"A related person, eh, get him on the road then," sneered a brutish man in armour.

"Who would like to deal with this young man? Or if anyone has such... special interests, he can be left to have some fun first," smirked a hooded man, flipping a dagger, his malicious gaze wandering over Larry.

Larry felt a chill. His strong psychic power allowed him to clearly hear every single word from the group.

Two of their cohort, who could obviously be only grunts, couldn’t help but draw their weapons and rush towards Larry.

"Spiritual Assault!" Larry commanded, unleashing a powerful psychic assault on the people in front. Their heads exploded like crushed watermelons with a boom.

For some unknown reason, Larry was completely unaffected by the gruesome scene. Perhaps it was because they died too quickly, or their deaths didn't feel real enough. Perhaps Larry still regarded them as NPCs.

Having witnessed countless deaths in the hyperrealistic game could also be a reason. Larry had seen too much death, heard too many dying cries, smelled too much blood, and touched too much of the accompanying gore.

To put it bluntly, in many missions, he had to walk through piles of human remains if the gore settings weren’t turned off. Those horrifying scenes filled with dead bodies were far more brutal than this.

This game was never designed for children, but for those who wanted to truly enjoy the thrill of gaming.

How many people died in a guild war? How many NPCs turned into lifeless bones right before him?How could a siege be without casualties?

When the scenes in the game turned into real life, players would naturally feel unadapted.

No matter it's other people or Larry, they all started from killing chickens and ducks, then killing coyotes, and then killing thieves as arranged by the game.

There are professional staff guiding the storyline to gradually familiarize players with the bloody effects.

"Uh... I'm used to it, but the exploding brains are still a bit..., 'Ignite'", Larry frowned and retched a few times, snapped his fingers, and a hot flame suddenly appeared on the corpse, burning it to ashes in just a few seconds.

In contrast, Griffin gave the corpse on the ground a cold look, and gradually returned to normal under Larry's voice.

"Griffin, let's go. Let's leave while I still have some interest." Larry patted the silver wolf's head, and the two of them dashed away from the scene.

"That's how it is, yes... I didn't think too much, they were just too disgusting, I didn't think much..."

Larry scratched his head and said.

"Pfft..." Charlotte couldn't help but laugh at what Larry had said.

Larry's black hair and black eyes were very rare in Noen Continent, and could even be said to be unique. Only those who specifically changed their hair color could possibly have black hair, but no one could emulate black eyes.

Larry was very handsome and had a little bit of delicacy.

"Oz would be a very attractive girl if he dressed up a little," Charlotte looked Larry up and down, giving the latter the chills.

"Stop your thought that deserves to be damned, I'm a straight man!" Larry said with annoyance.

Charlotte covered her mouth and laughed, standing up.

"I'm going to tell grandpa about this, it's very useful information, Oz, you stay here for a while."

Charlotte patted her perky buttocks, which made Larry's blood boil, and he secretly planned to seize an opportunity to have a good experience tonight.

"Fine, fine, go." Larry leaned back on the lawn and began to doze with his eyes closed.

Charlotte turned around and left the lawn with a smile, heading towards Rikel's study.

Sensing Charlotte's departure, Larry, with his eyes closed, revealed a bitter smile at the corner of his mouth.

"Can I ever go back?"
