"I was going to say yesterday-" Wu Yaoyao began, but then paused, noticing something was off. She looked at me suspiciously, "Why do you seem so calm?"
I was just about to yawn when she interrupted me with that sentence.
Of course, I couldn't outrightly say that Ning Yi had already come to me. Besides, with Wu Yaoyao's personality, even if Ning Yi hadn't come to me, I would have guessed it anyway.
"I had guessed it already." I rubbed my face with my hands, driving away the last bit of sleepiness.
"Hmph," Wu Yaoyao pouted, "I told Ning Yi that your academic performance is not outstanding; you are not only dumb and wooden, but also not handsome. Although you are the Student Union Vice-Chairman, you have no real power. You have an unattractive face..."
Wu Yaoyao pouted and vividly listed all my shortcomings, which made me very annoyed. But each and every one of them was true, leaving me no room to refute, just grinding my teeth in frustration.
"If I'm so bad, why do you still like me?" I said, annoyed. But after saying this, I started to regret it a little and cautiously looked at Wu Yaoyao's beautiful face, afraid she would be disheartened by my words.
"Who cares if I like you when you are so terrible?" Unexpectedly, Wu Yaoyao just glared at me with some resentment. Her tone was of resignation, and there was not much expression on her face.
Wu Yaoyao bit her lip, looked away, and continued, "I also said that you are in the second year of high school, and she is in the third year, so you will inevitably face the problem of breaking up after one year. Moreover, you are so dumb that you definitely cannot get into the top university that Ning Yi attends..."
As if the fact that I am dumb is becoming the truth, she earnestly analyzes this statement, only short of counting her fingers.
"Then I can also go to the university that you are going to?" I caught the loophole in her words and took the opportunity to say.
"But I can go to the university that you get into." Wu Yaoyao looked at me indignantly, as if blaming me for interrupting her speech. "And then guess what Ning Yi said?"
"What did she say?" I got curious. Yesterday, Ning Yi only briefly mentioned that Wu Yaoyao had gone to find her but didn't mention their conversation. I am really interested in what these two people with completely opposite personalities said to each other.
"Hmm," Wu Yaoyao frowned and pronounced the word with her cherry lips.
"Hmm?" I could only answer with the same word, not understanding her meaning.
Wu Yaoyao took a couple of deep breaths and paused for a few seconds.
"She just said 'Hmm'! I stood there talking to her like an idiot! It pissed me off!" Wu Yaoyao clenched her teeth in anger and bumped her tied-up bun hairstyle against my shoulder.
"Hahaha!" I couldn't help myself and burst out laughing. The icy Ning Yi facing the passionate Wu Yaoyao is too picturesque indeed.
"Hey, which side are you on?" Seeing me laugh, Wu Yaoyao stomped her feet in anger.
"I'm on, uh, your side." I originally wanted to say I was on Ning Yi's side, but seeing Wu Yaoyao showing her two cute canines, I quickly changed my words in fright.
"However," Wu Yaoyao's tone shifted, "Ning Yi's attitude shows that she has no interest in you at all. You should give up."
When she said this, she secretly looked at my expression, probably fearing that I would be upset because of this. The seemingly enthusiastic and adorable Wu Yaoyao is actually a very sensitive person.
"But my heart for her will still be there." I pretended to be regretful.
"Then I'll wait until that heart of yours dies." Wu Yaoyao blushed and dismissed my statement.
Sigh... I knew Wu Yaoyao wouldn't be easy to get rid of. Why must people have the feeling of love? I sighed, shook my head and cleared my mind.
"This afternoon, we have a joint performance competition with City Second High School. Remember to come and help." Wu Yaoyao seemed to remember something and turned her head to speak to me.
"........Can't you find someone else?""No."
……
The joint performance competition of the Kyudo Club is spontaneously held by local middle school enthusiasts. It aims to showcase the history of archery and the charm of this sport. In other words, this competition, which occurs every two or three months, is just a small circle of self-entertainment. After all, archery has a certain degree of danger. In addition to the venues and materials required for this performance, there are various safety matters to be supervised by the student union.
In short, all these troubles eventually fall on me.
I spent the day in a daze. After school, I went to the Student Union office to collect the relevant forms for record-keeping and walked down the school path towards the Kyudo Club.
The glass windows outside the Kyudo Club were already crowded with people. Without even thinking about it, they must have come to see Wu Yaoyao.
"Hello, Vice-Chairman."
"Hmm."
As I approached the main entrance of the Kyudo Club, a member of the club greeted me and opened the door.
There were many people in the Kyudo Club. Most of them were unfamiliar faces, probably from city secondary schools. Most of them were dressed in traditional archery clothes and stood quietly on the side, their eyes focused on a girl in front of the target.
This girl was undoubtedly Wu Yaoyao.
Wu Yaoyao had changed out of her school uniform and into traditional archery attire. Her originally slender figure now had an ethereal feel. She stood quietly, seemingly adjusting her breathing; her face transformed from the usual cute expression to one of extreme seriousness, exuding an air of solemnity. The two buns in her hair, tied for convenience, added a touch of playfulness. Her cherry lips were slightly parted, her fair skin tinged with pink; her eyes, as clear as a lake, free of any impurities.
Suddenly, her body moved, and her gaze sharpened. The girl's movements seemed to bring with her a gust of wind. Stepping, positioning, lifting the arrow, raising, drawing the bow, focusing on the target, separating, and maintaining concentration. The whole set of actions was completed in one breath.
The archery hall went deathly quiet, and everyone was captivated by the girl's movements. If one were standing in the crowd, they could probably hear every single breath.
"BaiQiao, you're here."
Just as everyone in the hall was still immersed in admiring Wu Yaoyao's posture, a clear voice sounded in the venue.
Wu Yaoyao saw me standing by the door from a distance, her bare feet making pattering noises as she ran towards me, completely different from her previous elegant and goddess-like image.
