Imperial Capital, Andohar Grand Cathedral.
"Screech." Pushing open the heavy door, the Holy Maiden of Light, Amelia, stepped lightly through the chapel towards the Consistory.
There were sporadic worshippers in the chapel, all bowing as they saw Amelia. She in return gave gentle nods and smiles. Her gorgeous face, full of youthfulness and kindness, made even the nuns' hearts flutter.
Truly deserving the title of the Holy Maiden of Light, she was indeed a woman capable of toppling kingdoms.
In the Consistory, the Pope, under his crown, was holding a large spider, engrossed in studying it.
The spider was entirely black, with scattered black spots on its back shell. A thick green paste was visible in its crushed abdomen, giving off a strange smell...
Disgusting...
"Frade, could you please put it down?" Amelia covered her nose, "At your age, can't you find a healthier hobby?"
"Oh, I am old." Frade quickly hid the spider under the table, showing a kind smile, "As people get old, they cherish old memories. When I was young, I could kill two hundred corrosive spiders in the Land of Decay each day..."
Amelia felt a twinge in her ear. Patiently listening to him reminiscing, she finally interrupted, "Please, I have something to ask you..."
"What?" Frade grinned devilishly, "Little Ai, are you looking for a boyfriend? Do you want this experienced old man to help you vet?"
"No, that's not it!" Amelia shook her head, smiling resignedly. "It's about the pace of my recent power recovery. I don't know why it's stagnated."
"Hmm." Hearing this, Frade turned serious, "Indeed, this is a big problem... To what extent have you recovered?"
"I reached the upper level of the Ground Tier last week, but I haven't made any progress since."
Frade fell into deep thought. After the battle in the Frozen North, Amelia's magical circuit had been shattered. She had to start training again from the lowest human tier.
Given Amelia's talent and determination, coupled with the church's secret methods, she should have quickly recovered to the peak of the Heavenly Tier. It indeed seemed like there was a problem.
Frade stealthily observed Amelia who appeared energetic, but the faint bloodshot eyes and her gloomy face betrayed her true feelings.
"Such a thing shouldn't be rushed," Frade sighed deeply, "I wouldn't rush to conclusions, but from my experience, your stagnation may be due to excessive stress, causing the energy in your body to circulate poorly... Go out and have some fun. The Imperial City is quite lively these days."
"There is a special recruitment group going to West Castle Town. The church wants a representative. You should go. It's a nice place with simple folk and beautiful scenery. It's good for adjusting your mood."
After leaving the Consistory, Amelia felt even more anxious than before.
The human alliance suffered heavy losses in the battle against the Eternal Winter Monarch. Although many dying warriors were revived by the spiritual king, the casualties exceeded half of the former numbers.
The church suffered the most. When the Continental Alliance went to war, many powerful beings, especially the minions secretly nurtured by the Imperial officials, didn't join. They didn't consider the "Continental Destruction" a valid reason to get involved.
For worldly powers, only their interests matter, regardless of the imminent danger.
"Damn Western Continent people..."
Amelia was fuming. The Church of the Holy Light contributed the most to dealing with the crisis. Even the highly arrogant Beastmen and slightly insane Goblins gave it their all, even the Kingdom of Death was cooperative.
As for the oddballs from the Western Continent, who indulged in so-called "Magic industry" and the bitches among the forest elves, who didn't believe in the Holy Light, they were just going through the motions.
The Forest Elves didn’t even send combat units, just sent a batch of Rainbow Ponies as a token. They didn’t take it seriously! This was a battle concerning the existence of the entire continent!
