No sooner had the words been spoken than a sudden change occurred. It was as if a tremendous force had broken through the restraints, and the air suddenly became hot. In the next moment, a hoarse and powerful female voice tore through the silence of the forest.
"Fire!"
Drawing upon years of accumulated experience, Amelia immediately discarded her lunchbox and rolled to the side, avoiding the explosion.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Explosives planted throughout the recruitment camp were detonated, and in an instant, the camp became a scene of flames and shockwaves. People who were caught off guard had shards piercing their bodies, cutting through their throats, causing them to lose their lives within seconds.
"Triangle formation, full assault!"
That same voice issued another command, and instantly, Federal soldiers wearing bear skin caps and jungle camouflage emerged from the hiding spots among the surrounding trees, rapidly converging on the Imperial soldiers.
The attack came so suddenly that the mage warriors in the Imperial ranks were taken aback and caught off guard by the triangular formation. It wasn't until someone woke up from their stupor and yelled, "Enemy attack!" that everyone hurriedly grabbed their weapons. The mages chanted their spells in panic, while the warriors found the nearest Federal soldier and swung their swords.
However, their loose and feeble counterattack was completely ineffective against the organized assault of the enemy. The enemy seemed adept at dealing with the mages' attacks, splitting into groups of three to disperse and maneuver among the tall trees, encircling the convoy from all sides. The mages couldn't find a target for their attacks against this cunning enemy.
"Darn it! I'll fight you!"
The warriors charged forward like headless flies but were met with crossfire from the Federal soldiers. In an instant, even the heavy armor that could withstand attacks from marsh rhinos was riddled with holes, demonstrating the power of firearms.
In one-on-one combat, the Federal soldiers were definitely no match for the Imperial soldiers. Standard soldiers armed with magic rifles and stun grenades could mostly only yield to the agile and versatile elemental magic and holy light.
But now, the enemy had seized the initiative, catching the convoy off guard, and successfully surrounded them, exploiting all the weaknesses of the Federal army. They had calculated everything very well.
Panic set in among the soldiers. Where did these thugs come from? They just started fighting without any warning. This rhythm is leading us to our doom...
Amelia attempted to shoot a few holy lights, but found them useless and shouted, "Everyone, this won't work. Once we're surrounded, we won't stand a chance. Let's charge out in all directions and throw them into chaos!"
After saying that, the Holy Maiden pulled out the temporary sword at her waist and rushed out together with the swordsman protecting her.
"Stop her from escaping!"
Instantly, the nearby attacks focused on Amelia. The Holy Maiden and the swordsman raised their shields, creating an impenetrable barrier as they quickly moved towards the scattered Federal soldiers.
Seeing this, the scattered soldiers made way, revealing a dark void behind them where a magic-powered cannon was charging. A Federal soldier injected magic into the power mechanism, causing veins to bulge on his forehead and his body to tremble uncontrollably.
Amelia knew that soldiers like him were called "artillerymen" in the Federal army. They possessed strength equivalent to the higher ranks of the Imperial magic system, burning their own magical life force and utilizing magic-powered machines to unleash terrifying attacks far surpassing human capabilities.
Amelia couldn't directly withstand such an attack with her current strength, but the swordsman stepped forward at this moment.
"Your Highness, hide behind me!"
