Chapter 10: Adventurer's Guild

Finn touched his chin, realizing that he was actually an intelligence dealer. He had some understanding of the "S-class bounty" that was offered a while ago, but the mission failed for an unknown reason. The Adventurers' Guild, however, suddenly removed the task and related tasks around the werewolf's territory, allowing him to sense a business opportunity.

However, after making inquiries from various sources, he found no success, as the Adventurers' Guild seemed to have issued a gag order. As a result, what happened that day had become a more valuable piece of information. He wanted to learn what exactly happened through the werewolf participants, but the other party didn't lack anything and it was difficult to pry open their mouths with the werewolf's character.

Nevertheless, with a try-and-see attitude, he asked Han Mu, and naturally, Han Mu wouldn't tell him. After completing the transaction, Finn left.

Two hours had passed since the transaction had completed, and it was already 3 a.m., according to the game's time prompt. A lot had happened that night. However, things had gone smoother than he had expected.

Han Mu turned off the oil lamp for the third time that night, and the room darkened again. This time, he finally slept until the daylight. The next morning, Han Mu went out with Xiaoming to purchase some other supplies. These were not very important things, such as paint, rare stone powder, and so on.

They easily bought everything they needed from various ore shops and blacksmiths. On their way, they noticed that there seemed to be something different from the day before, as they often saw groups of soldiers hurrying past them. At noon, they went to the restaurant where they had eaten before, and Elsa spotted them and insisted on giving them forty copper coins.

After having lunch, Han Mu sent Xiaoming back to the inn and asked her not to go out casually. He wanted to investigate a few things. Trusting Han Mu, Xiaoming obediently nodded.

Upon leaving the inn, Han Mu found a secluded corner and cancelled the "mimicry" effect of the "disguise mask", turning from a humanoid werewolf back to a normal human. He shrugged his shoulders, placed his cloak into the system "warehouse", and put the heavy coin pouch from his waist into the "warehouse" as well.

Alright, it was time to visit West Main Street. "West Main Street?" said a puzzled grocery store owner. "You might be talking about West Stermilna Street," he said after scratching his head.

When asked what was there, the store owner said that there were various bars, restaurants, brothels, and the Adventurers' Guild of Kofdel. Han Mu thanked the store owner, who then directed him to the location.

Following the directions, Han Mu entered the main road and arrived at the city hall after a long walk. He quickly found West Stermilna Street and was soon among many armed adventurers. Occasionally, he could see one or two people dressed as wizards wearing strange, pointy hats.

Using his ability appraisal, Han Mu found that these two were apprentice wizards below level 20. The surrounding hustle and bustle reminded Han Mu of the atmosphere he had been longing for.

Walking from one end of the street to the other, he found that most buildings were residential, except for the Adventurers' Guild located right in the middle of the street. The Guild occupied a much larger area than other buildings, with a three-story red brick structure. The first-floor exterior was adorned with beautiful blue stone bricks, while the upper floors were painted with ordinary grayish-yellow paint. The entrance of the first floor consists of three scarlet-red doors arranged side by side, and the middle door has a rectangular sign that is almost square in shape. The pattern on the sign is a knight's sword crossed with a dagger. Han Mu arrived at the Adventurer's Guild, and his intuition told him that this place could serve as the first entry point for him to gather information. Stepping up the stairs, Han Mu walked in.

Inside was a spacious hall with slightly darkened flooring. Facing him on the wall, there were seven or eight objects similar to blackboards, on which many documents like notices were posted. One of the blackboards was almost full of notices. Several adventurers stood there, staring at the blackboard, seemingly struggling over a decision.

To the left of the blackboard were several counters with beautiful ladies as tellers, and many adventurers were dealing with them. To the right of the blackboard was a black metal spiral staircase leading to the second floor, and further to the right were seven or eight square wooden tables, each with a long bench without a backrest on both sides of the table. At this time, quite a few adventurers were sitting there, and there were no empty seats.

Han Mu remembered that when he first arrived in Kofordel, the bald adventurer's "Adventurer's Identity Card" seemed quite useful. It might be a good idea to inquire about the conditions for becoming an adventurer first. If it is simple, he'll get one.

Joining the shortest queue, Han Mu lined up obediently at the end. A hearty laughter sounded from behind Han Mu. A rough, dark hand patted towards Han Mu's back. Without looking back, Han Mu dodged the pat by shifting his body to the side. The man who tried to pat him felt a bit surprised. "Kid, good reflexes!" he said. "Not bad," replied Han Mu.

The man who patted Han Mu's back was a middle-aged uncle who was not tall but looked quite sturdy. He was the middle-aged uncle Qiao that Han Mu had met at the restaurant the day before. This time, Han Mu noticed a detail: half of the man's right ear was missing, seemingly cut off by a sharp blade.

"Young man, what's your name? Are you here to be an adventurer?" he asked. "Yes, my name is Isaac Rockefeller, and I want to know more about it," replied Han Mu. Since he was using a fake name this time, Han Mu didn't hesitate to tell him. "Nice name, Isaac. You can call me Qiao, and I'm your senior," said the uncle, revealing a silver-bordered brown leather bracelet, which resembled a watch, on his left wrist. "My rank is 'Silver'," he added proudly.

Han Mu secretly activated his "Ability Appraisal" and found Qiao's level to be 27, showing that he had gone through quite some training. As for the general level of the people in Kofordel, Han Mu had seen quite a few humans; a level like Qiao's was considered good. Ordinary people were around level 10, militia and temporary sign-ups were not counted, while formally trained soldiers were at around level 15.

"Very impressive, I hope to learn from you," said Han Mu. "No problem, since you're Elsa's friend, I'll naturally take good care of you, but remember to treat me to a drink afterwards," said Qiao. "Thank you very much. What are the requirements to become an adventurer?" Han Mu asked. "There are no special requirements. Just complete a quest, either solo or in a group, and you'll become an apprentice adventurer," Qiao explained.

He then proceeded to give Han Mu an overview of the basic knowledge about adventurers. First, the ranking of adventurers' teams and individuals was based on a single unit system, which was as follows: Apprentice, Hardwood, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Mithril, and Fine Steel.

Although Silver-ranked adventurers could occasionally be seen, they were often recognized by the Adventurers' Guild for their personal strength, which allowed them to complete certain quests that normally required a Gold-ranked team. However, Mithril-ranked adventurer teams were very rarely officially awarded by the Adventurer's Guild, as the threshold for approval was very high. This was because this rank represented each country's top-tier adventurer teams.Above the Mithril level is the terrifying Fine Steel level. Only those who have stepped into the human Hero Realm and possess extremely high honors can be granted this level. Every Fine Steel level adventurer has a unique talent in a certain field and has the ability to single-handedly annihilate "Captain" level demons.

Not only do they not have to salute nobles in various countries, but they also have a very high level of legal pardon. This is the courtesy given to heroes. However, the criteria for the evaluation of Fine Steel level adventurer teams are simpler than those of Mithril, but more difficult to achieve, as they require at least three Fine Steel level adventurers to participate in order to be granted this level. It is extremely difficult for human heroes to reach three.

It is said that there are only two Fine Steel level adventurer teams in the entire Westerlan continent, and the Westerlan Adventurer Association refuses to disclose any information about Fine Steel level adventurers and their teams. The levels of missions are, in order, unrated, F, E, D, C, B, A, S, SS.

At this time, it was Han Mu's turn. Although he still wanted to listen more, he had to go to the counter first to carry out the formalities. The counter staff was a 20-year-old girl who seemed very active.

"Hello, please show your 'DS card'."

"DS card" refers to an adventurer card? He didn't have one, so he just told the truth. "I don't have a 'DS card'. I'm entering the Adventurer's Guild for the first time and would like to learn about the procedures for becoming an adventurer."

"Oh, so you're a newbie? Listen up, newbie, becoming an adventurer is life-threatening."

"I know that."

"No, you don't. I've seen many trainee adventurers go on missions and never come back. This is my personal, final advice: if you're determined to try, I, of course, support you from a professional standpoint."

"Thank you for your kindness."

Upon hearing this, the counter staff couldn't help but show a helpless expression and shook her head.
