If "Finding Miss Angeli" were a mission.
Then he had already obtained the key prop, "Golden Hair".
Re-engaged the skill "Information Collection".
Perceived the life fluctuations of its owner from the hair.
"Life Exploration" domain opened at full scale.
Han Mu, acting as the center of the circle, had managed to achieve a terrifying search radius of 5 kilometers, almost covering the entire city of Kofdale.
As expected of a big city, numerous small red dots appeared densely in Han Mu's perception.
It seemed too troublesome to identify these countless spots individually, given that the differences in life fluctuations are not significant among human beings, making it extremely difficult to differentiate.
Besides, even if Han Mu scrutinized each individual thoroughly, he might not necessarily find this woman.
Because "Life Exploration" is not omnipotent. First of all, there are limitations to the range.
And it cannot examine non-living objects, including magical life forms.
Non-living objects don't have life fluctuations presence, such as skeletons or ghosts which cannot be identified using "Life Exploration". That is to say, if Miss Angeli is dead, the skill would be ineffective to her corpse.
As for magical life forms, like manipulated puppets, elemental creatures, mechanic beasts etc., they are also invalid to "Life Exploration".
The reason is simple: although they look like living creatures, they are not truly alive but controlled by magic power.
It's magic, not life force, that maintains their forms.
At the same time, if the perpetrators have any items that can block life fluctuations, such as "Isolation Cloak" which can prevent wearer's information from leaking, "Life Exploration" would be useless.
Han Mu knew that this might seem unnecessary.
After all, considering the perpetrator had been at large for so long, he assumed that most of the bases would not be located in Kofdale. Otherwise, they would have exposed themselves long ago.
Han Mu realized it might be futile searching for Miss Angeli in the city. Still, he wanted to try, perhaps some peculiar targets could be found.
Unfortunately, there were no abnormalities in Kofdale that would attract Han Mu's attention.
The moment when he turned off the skill, Han Mu perceived something was wrong with the life spots from the northern part of the city. Some of the furthest dots had disappeared.
At the same time, more than a dozen life spots had broken into his vicinity and were approaching his room at an unhurried pace.
Two familiar men quickly arrived in Miss Angeli's room, one was the gloomy-faced captain of Viscount Harrison's guard, and the other was the previously met Angus White Francis, a titular baron.
"Sorry, Viscount, I ..."
As soon as the guard captain started, he wanted to apologize to Viscount Harrison, but he was silenced by the latter's hand gesture.
Viscount Harrison probably guessed what had happened. It wasn't unexpected that Angus would return to the mansion, after all with the number of people Angus had, what kind of search could he conduct?
His actions should attract Angus's attention.
The reason for the guard captain's apology is probably that his guard team had been completely subdued by Angus.
He couldn't blame the captain, after all, the troops led by Angus were the elites of the kingdom’s army. Each of them could fight ten men at once.
His guards, though one of the best among the soldiers in Kofdale, are clearly not at the same level as the Iron Blood Knights.
Upon entering, Angus immediately noticed Han Mu. After all, Han Mu's dress code entirely clashed with the room’s decoration.
Dressed in black with a hat on, as well as a metallic mask covering his face.
On any account, he appeared very suspicious.
However, even though he found Han Mu suspicious, Angus didn't take any action, instead he turned to converse with Viscount Harrison.
"Viscount Harrison, it seems you have not disappointed me. My words have indeed motivated you, though I wonder who is this person you bring, and what method he has to find Miss Angeli."Although Angus is only an honorary baronet, a few ranks lower than Harrison's title, his tone somewhat conveys a sense of looking down on Viscount Harrison.
Viscount Harrison didn't respond immediately, but turned an inquiring gaze towards Han Mu.
Han Mu, naturally understanding the meaning of Viscount Harrison's questioning gaze, subtly shook his head.
Understanding Han Mu's intentions, it was only then that Viscount Harrison responded to Angus' remark.
This display, in the eyes of Angus, sparked curiosity about Han Mu's identity; what kind of person would make Viscount Harrison exhibit such lowly behavior?
"Angus, if you still want to find Miss Angel, the wisest choice is to do nothing and just watch," said Harrison.
Seeing that Han Mu was unwilling to reveal his identity, Viscount Harrison naturally helped him keep it hidden and immediately changed the subject.
Just like Angus, there was a slight hint of disdain in his tone.
Seeing that Viscount Harrison didn't reveal Han Mu's identity, Angus, although curious, put his curiosity aside for the moment.
After all, he still needed this mysterious figure to help locate Miss Angel.
If this mysterious person had the means to find Miss Angel, even if he was a wanted criminal, Angus wouldn't get involved and he wouldn't refuse even if he ended up owing a favor.
However, if the person couldn't find Miss Angel and appeared to be a fraud, his identity would be of no significance to Angus; he would be just another useless individual and there would be no reason to inquire about his identity.
If, after everything was settled, the person showed signs of suspicion, Angus would unhesitantly apprehend and interrogate him, even in front of Viscount Harrison.
With these thoughts, Angus maintained a silent, erect posture.
Viscount Harrison, seeing that the other party seemed to be intimidated by his presence, felt a little pride in his heart as he watched Han Mu with hopeful eyes.
At this time, the captain of the guards was standing desolately behind Viscount Harrison.
Han Mu's claim that he had a way to find Miss Angel was not empty talk. He indeed had a plan.
Now that he found the medium, he could initiate his plan.
Han Mu took out two items that he had prepared in advance from his waist.
One was a green crystal the size of a bean.
The other was an item resembling a watercolor paintbrush.
Han Mu casually found a small empty piece of ground in the spacious room and held the paintbrush-like item in his right hand, imbuing it with magical energy.
Seeing Han Mu kneel down with the pen-like object, both Viscount Harrison and Angus guessed that he might draw a magic circle.
They prepared themselves for a patient wait.
The Viscount, a renowned scholar, and Angus, a top-notch warrior, had both seen magic circles and watched magicians draw them a few times.
Even an excellent court magician would need several other magicians' assistance to draw a magic circle, which would take an entire afternoon.
After all, magic circles, those profound and esoteric symbols, directly communicate with the world. Any slight mistake, even a tiny misshaping of a symbol, could cause a backlash during spellcasting.
With good luck, only the magic circle would stop working, and the individual's spirit would be damaged.
With bad luck, the person could be torn to pieces by the chaotic magic flow from another dimension.
So even after the drawing is completed, magicians generally take a whole day to carefully check for any mistakes in the magic circle.
Harrison had previously mistaken Han Mu as a high-ranking dragon clan member and assumed he mastered dragon magic.
Harrison assumed that Han Mu would draw a mysterious dragon magic circle and had full confidence in him.
But Angus, who didn't know Han Mu's true identity, saw Han Mu draw the magic circle alone and doubted him as a magic circle was not something one person could draw.An unexpected incident took place, which, while less surprising to Viscount Harrison due to his foresight, left Angus' eyes wide in astonishment. All Han Mu did was touch the ground with his paintbrush, creating ripples as if he were touching the surface of the water. These ripples revealed a miniature magic circle inscribed with complex patterns.
Angus could not believe his eyes. A magic circle, one that usually required several court magicians and great lengths of time to create, had been realized in an instant. What's more, the detail and finesse of these inscriptions shone with a craftsmanship he had never seen before. Even without knowledge of magic, he could tell this was anything but the crude circles he had previously encountered.
Regardless of the magic circle's intended function, this display of proficiency alone was enough for Angus to regard Han Mu as a force to be reckoned with, and he started to understand the importance Harrison had placed on him. No wonder Harrison treated him so seriously. Angus couldn't help but compare him with the grand court magician of the neighboring Spade Empire, his sister Angelica's grandfather.
The magic circle was now complete. Han Mu placed a strand of golden hair in its center as a medium, then positioned a green crystal atop it. As the circle began to emanate a gentle, dark green glow—a manifestation of the flowing magical power—the green crystal at the center also flickered with green light.
The surface of the green crystal soon liquefied, transforming into a baby-fist sized green water orb, and the strand of hair was absorbed into it. The orb sprouted limbs and quickly morphed into an elf-like being, a palm-sized creature without discernable gender features. With no expression on its face, it was clearly just a pure magical entity, devoid of any wisdom, existing only to follow its master's orders faithfully.
Han Mu then approached the little elf-like entity. "Tell me," Han Mu asked, "where is your original body?" The elf looked blankly to its left and pointed.
Viscount Harrison was elated. Anyone but a fool could deduce what just occurred given Han Mu's statement and their current predicament. Similarly, Angus understood the situation and he inquired Han Mu with newfound respect, "Sir, with no further ado, let's find Miss Angelica together."
Han Mu simply nodded, to which Viscount Harrison immediately ordered the Captain of the Guard to assemble the city troops. However, Han Mu interrupted him. "Do not do that. I believe we are more than capable as we currently stand. Besides, sometimes, having more people isn't necessarily an advantage, for it might potentially scare off the other party."
Angus, confident in his own abilities, fully agreed, for he was determined to salvage his reputation at all costs.
