Chapter 3: The Taste of Raw Meat

"Oh my god..."

I believe that anyone who has seen that "rabbit" would exclaim in astonishment.

If that thing is called a rabbit, then it must be a rabbit with its neck hung on a hook on the wall, because its neck is just too long, too long to be cute. Without that long neck, maybe this rabbit would be round and cute, but unfortunately, other than a sense of curiosity, I can't feel any cuteness from it.

And can we talk about how big this thing is?

Its size is comparable to a sow, although its fur looks thick, it is definitely not the kind of "big rabbit" I know.

Just as I was about to take out my phone to take a picture of this long-necked rabbit, I heard a whisper in my ear. I couldn't understand what language it was, instinctively, I turned my gaze to her - Medusa, who had already drawn her short bow.

The short bow looked like it was about to break at any moment, and the arrow on the bow looked like a rough handmade object. The arrowhead was just a sharpened arrow shaft, but with this thickness, there was no doubt about its killing power. With a diameter of about 1 centimeter, I believe that the life of that long-necked rabbit would soon come to an end.

But her hand holding the bowstring did not release, until a thin layer of mist began to condense on the arrow, I stared intently, anticipating what would happen next. As the white mist became thicker and thicker, making the arrow invisible, Medusa released her fingers. The arrow disappeared without a sound.

All that was left in the air was a straight track made of white mist, which extended to the head of the long-necked rabbit before coming to a stop. And that arrow had emerged from the other side of the rabbit's head, half of it covered in pink brain matter. The prey fell to the ground silently, twitching aimlessly.

I could clearly feel my throat heating up, the Adam's apple being raised and then lowered forcefully.

This was clearly not the normal power of a Turkish short bow, although 20 pounds of draw weight was enough to kill a person with a bow, but the speed of this arrow was too fast. And the penetration effect was close to that of a bullet, it was hard to imagine how this kind of killing power was achieved without magic assistance - that white mist, how was this done?

While praising the power of magic in my mind, I also pondered Medusa's behavior. Although it was hunting, could they finish a prey of this size in one go? If they couldn't finish it, how would they store it? Besides this kind of long-necked rabbit, what else would they eat? Would they eat... humans? One question arose after another, and I started to fantasize again.

But Medusa did not give me any time to indulge in wild thoughts, the sound of iron chains rang out, and the hand pointing at the prey clearly wanted me to go and bring the food back.

"Can a person move a rabbit as big as themselves? Today, I'll prove it!"

Although I wanted to say that, anyone with a bit of common sense could tell that a rabbit the size of a sow was not something a normal person could move.

But this was Medusa's "command," even if I couldn't do it, I had to make her understand. So I ran over, grabbed a leg, and exerted all my strength to try to drag the prey away. The pain in my muscles returned, reminding me once again that I was just a human. But I did manage to move the big rabbit, even if it was just a few centimeters...

I glanced at the monster with snake hair and laughed dryly, hoping she would understand that I couldn't do something like this. Unfortunately, there was no expression of "understanding" on her face, instead, there was a hint of dissatisfaction. Are all the humans in this world capable of running around with pigs on their backs? Don't joke!

In the end, she used a rope transformed by one of her snakes to bind the prey and dragged it back with a splash.

On the way, although I thought about lying on the prey and being dragged back, saving myself the trouble of walking, it was only a thought that lasted for a few seconds.

Honestly, I don't even know why I always like to mess around like this, even in dangerous situations, I carry a bit of a playful attitude. This personality of mine may one day end up hurting me.

After returning to the cave, it was time to enjoy the process of one monster dismantling another. Just like me, who have watched countless horror movies, I still feel uncomfortable in my stomach when watching the live version of animal dissection up close. Bones and organs were thrown outside the cave, the hide of the rabbit was turned inside out and spread out on the ground, and the back meat, leg meat, and clean-looking neck meat were separated.

To be honest, this was nothing like the butcher slaughtering cows and sheep that I had imagined. The butcher would not use a short-handled axe to dismantle cows and sheep.Next is meal time, with various shapes of raw meat placed on a spread-out rabbit hide, giving a sense of abundance. By the way, there really isn't much meat on these big rabbits. Compared to a mother pig, it's far less. Just scattered about like this, it looks to be about fifty pounds in total. Although I've been hungry for over a day, looking at the bloody raw meat, I can't muster even the slightest bit of appetite.

However, Big Sister Medusa seemed to remember something and threw two pieces in my direction. From my standpoint, I should eat these two pieces of meat, and for my stomach, it would be better to eat them as well, as hunger is the ultimate enemy of survival. I forced myself to sit down and picked up one piece of meat...

It felt slippery and not cold, kind of like raw meat...

But of course, this is raw meat!

The smell was really awful. But if I pinched my nose, I thought I could force it down.

In terms of taste, besides being difficult to chew, there was nothing else. Sometimes when I bit into it, liquid would come out, so I had to spit out the liquid before eating. It can be said that raw giraffe meat is a very unfriendly food for humans. But thinking about the worst things I've eaten in my life, raw meat can still be swallowed.

I don't want to recall how I managed to eat those two pieces of meat. In any case, it was already good enough that I could feel a sense of fullness while using my nails to pick out the meat scraps from my teeth. Medusa was still eating on her side, a bit faster than me, but it looked like it would take her until evening to finish. I suddenly thought of how snakes eat. It is said that some pythons can eat prey of the same size as their own bodies in one meal and then not eat for a month. Based on her appetite and eating speed, she really had some snake-like habits. Could it be that the Medusas in this world are all transformed snakes?

I turned to look at her. She had already taken off the layers of gauze on her hands and waist. If I avoided looking at her lower body and hair, it would be a scene of a bloodthirsty girl. On a whim or perhaps out of a desire for self-destruction, I mysteriously took out my phone and slid into camera mode.

"Click"

Perhaps it was because the sky was getting darker, the flash turned on automatically.

I don't know how fast a flash is, but it is certainly fast.

I also don't know how fast Medusa can move, but it is similar to the speed of the flash.

Being pressed hard against the stone wall, I smelled the familiar metallic smell, saw the bloodstained tiger teeth, and heard unintelligible words.

"Sei-le-su!"

"Sei...le-su?"

I blindly repeated the words of the other party, it wasn't intentional.

"Sei-le-su!"

"Sei...le-su?"

I repeated it again, and it reminded me of a scene where Japanese people bow to each other repeatedly.

Although I later learned that it means "don't move," at the time, I didn't even feel like it was a human language.

Snakes continued to wriggle out of her hair, exposing their tiny sharp teeth. Finally, my body trembled, like a sieve, with unending shivers. If she looked even more ferocious, I might have wet my pants?

What happened next seemed to have been arranged in advance.

My phone slipped down and bounced with a solid crashing sound, rotating gracefully in mid-air, and made a near-perfect landing.

The screen turned pitch black, and it seemed that the flash was definitely broken. Immediately, I crouched down to check on my phone, but Medusa, who had snakes wrapped around my neck, didn't show the slightest bit of carelessness.

After a few minutes, realizing that the phone I thought was broken posed no threat, she connected it to pieces of rubble using her tail and threw it away in one breath. The snakes around my neck also released their grip.

Leaning against the wall, I felt much calmer. Later, when I thought back to that scene, I felt like I was being guided by some divine intervention. In a life-or-death situation, it was cost-effective to break my phone to resolve the crisis. Besides, the phone had no signal and would eventually run out of battery.

However, that day, I still sniffled while staring at the direction my phone flew away for a long time.

In memory of my phone that perished in the other world. R.I.P.
