Chapter 5: The Test of the Student Council
The student council's activity room was quite large. It had everything from television, computers, sofas, coffee tables, to a pool table and a large sound system. It seemed to have everything and even things it shouldn't have. It didn't feel like a serious student council at all.
The president sat behind her own dedicated desk, playing with her beautiful blonde hair and sitting elegantly. She looked just like a company CEO conducting interviews for potential employees. Sitting beside her on the sofa was a black-haired beauty, the second most popular girl in the school and the vice president of the student council, Li Liu. She had a face full of Eastern beauty, slightly overshadowed by the president's Western glamorous face. However, Li Liu had a cold and icy personality, forming an invisible barrier around her. On the other hand, the president was approachable and versatile. It was said that anyone who got close to her would become obedient. Standing between them was a silver-haired girl with twin ponytails, of average height and a well-proportioned figure. She had a cute face with glasses and exuded an aura of literature. She was definitely the legendary secretary of the student council, Tesha.
The three beauties stood in front of me, truly a sight to behold. However, my mind was not on them, and I didn't have the mood to appreciate such scenery. I held the "Student Council Selection Procedure" given by the student council, which consisted of two stages. The first stage was a duel against Hanya, and the performance would determine whether one passes or not. The second stage was a secret review conducted by the president. I was completely focused on the section about "dueling Hanya." Hanya was the strongest swordsman in "The Chishin Academy High School" and had the title of the number one knight. He had once fought against another high-level swordsman using the "Crack Cloud" magic sword and emerged victorious. Without a doubt, he was a genius, and it was said that he always injured his opponents. Everyone was afraid of him, and whenever Hanya was mentioned, people would make painful expressions. It was clear that dueling Hanya was equivalent to seeking death.
"Hey, what's wrong with you?" A classmate next to me looked at me with a concerned tone, seeing that I was sweating profusely, trembling hands, and lifeless eyes.
"Oh, uh, I'm fine, I'm fine, just a little scared," I regained my composure and slowly said, "Uh, my name is Qin Yang. May I know your name?" I politely greeted him to hide my embarrassment.
"I'm Qin Yin."
"So, you're Qin Yin." I looked up and down at him. He had short black hair that gave off a feminine vibe because his face was very beautiful, just like a girl's. His clean and slender figure was slightly taller than me. He was definitely the material for a handsome pretty boy.
"Do you know me?" He looked puzzled.
"Don't you know? We are roommates, it's written at the dormitory entrance."
"Oh, uh, I didn't pay attention, but what a coincidence," he smiled slightly, looking beautiful and pure. It would be great if he were a girl. Snap out of it, I'm not into BL, I'm not into BL. I must shake off these inappropriate thoughts.
Then, my eyes caught a glimpse of blue. It was her, the owner of the Azure Darkfire, Lilith. Why was she here? I instinctively hid, worried that if she saw me, it would be trouble.
"Do you know that transfer student, Lilith, with the Divine Fire?" Qin Yin followed my gaze and looked at Lilith, asking with a puzzled look on his face.
"Lilith?"
"Yeah! She transferred here this year as a second-year student. I heard she possesses one of the Four Divine Fires, the Azure Darkfire."
"Second-year? That loli is a second-year student? No wonder she hates being called little."
I thought I had lowered my voice to the lowest level, but God had other plans. Lilith, with her blue hair, heard it and became extremely interested in the last sentence. She kept muttering, "Little...little...and you, the four-eyes." Her body emitted a blue glimmer of the Darkfire.
Just as I was looking for an escape route, the president, who had been observing the situation, spoke up. "Everyone, please be quiet. If you're ready, let's go to the second gymnasium now and have a friendly match with Hanya." She said with a smile, and when she mentioned the word "friendly match," she seemed very happy. Could it be that there was some secret conspiracy? The more I thought about it, the colder I felt. I should find a chance to escape. But I had a feeling that if I left, the blue-haired girl would pounce on me like a starved beast. What's going on? Within just twenty-four hours, I had been faced with several dilemmas. When will I be able to find peace? The Chishin Academy's high school department houses a private gymnasium for the Student Council, located in the second sports hall. Each of us who were selected entered individually and underwent a closed-off examination. The first person was Lilith, who quickly passed the two rounds of tests. However, looking at her tattered and disheveled clothes, I couldn't help but think that even one of the Four Godly Fires, the Azure Abyssal Flame, would not have been easy to handle. The second person was me.
Now it's my turn, and I hope I won't get too badly hurt. I kept praying silently.
Hanya's swordsmanship is extraordinary, and coupled with her proficiency in intermediate-level wind magic, she is fast and accurate, truly deserving of the title of "First Knight."
But when I saw her, I trembled. A real sword? I can't afford not to die now. Thankfully, it should not be her specialized magic sword, "Split Cloud."
"Come on!" she said calmly.
As I looked at her flowing emerald green hair, I felt a sense of familiarity. I couldn't help but wonder why I had the same feeling towards the Student Council President and Vice President, even though there was no entanglement between us. It still felt oddly comforting.
While I was lost in thought, the sword light came at me. Instinctively, I stepped back and in that moment, I understood. The "First Knight" in a duel never holds back. Today, she chose not to use magic and instead fought me solely with her swordsmanship. It was normal for someone like Hanya, who's facing a low-level magic user like me, to feel a sense of pity. However, facing her swordsmanship alone was also quite troublesome. Although my magic was useless, it didn't mean that I was useless in other aspects. I had learned swordsmanship for self-defense and had even won awards for it. Originally, I wanted to tell the Student Council President that I wanted to quit right from the start. However, it seemed that fate did not give me that chance. The test began as soon as we entered, and seeing Hanya's sharp sword light, my mind went blank. My subconscious drove me to defend myself with my sword.
As my sword collided with Hanya's, "hum~~" my sword trembled constantly, and even my arms felt numb.
She's really powerful, completely overwhelming in terms of strength. I sighed.
Before I could react, the sword light attacked again, aiming for my chest. I blocked it by crossing my sword in front of my chest. Although I managed to block it, the impact made me stagger back several steps. If this continued, I would definitely lose, but I would also be heavily injured. Who would want to be randomly stabbed by a sword in this world? It hurts a lot. Then, a flash of inspiration struck me. In this situation, with Hanya not giving me a chance to catch my breath and admit defeat, the only way I could buy some time was with my summoning magic.
"Earth Spirit, obey my command." I immediately summoned Lagumia, the highest-level earth spirit I could summon. It had the highest defensive capabilities and was estimated to last a few seconds. This way, I would have a chance. However, I underestimated Hanya's swordsmanship. Just when I was smugly planning my next move, without even waiting for my command, Lagumia was split in half and disappeared into particles of light. I knew something was wrong, so I activated my remaining bit of magic power to cast wind magic. Don't think that I'm an all-around mage. Low-level magic can be performed by anyone, but mid-level and higher magic can only be performed by those who specialize in it. I kept dodging and evading, but Hanya, who wasn't using magic, still caught up to me. Several times, her sword tip grazed my vital points, but she didn't inflict any actual wounds, only making shallow scratches.
"Can't you show yourself to me at this point? My dear," the Student Council President, who had been watching from the sidelines, spoke up.
"......" What does he mean, dear?
"Uh~~~" It was at this moment that my chest started to feel hot. It was painful, and my head felt dizzy. What's going on? Could it be...
The wind blew in through the window, carrying petals with it. They circled around me, and my consciousness slowly became hazy, fading away, settling down. My conscious mind fell asleep, while my subconscious mind awakened. In an instant, my black hair turned into silver-white, and my body stretched to a height of about 1.8 meters. I gracefully took off my blue-framed glasses and reached out towards the emptiness, grabbing hold of a silver half-frame glasses - the other me appeared.
The Student Council President, Vice President, and Hanya all had different reactions. The President was excited, the Vice President was bewildered, and Hanya suddenly applied magic to her sword. The sword emitted a brilliant emerald green light, and then Hanya moved at high speed, leaving afterimages that made it impossible to discern her actions.
The target of her sword was my heart, but I didn't react at all. When the tip of the sword was about to pierce my body, I suddenly raised my hand, sidestepped, and slid my hand along the tip of the sword, sliding it down to the hilt. Then, the bright green light disappeared, and I used my other hand to snatch the sword from her. In an instant, I moved behind Hanya, my left hand restraining her hands, and my right hand holding the sword horizontally against her neck, my chest pressed against her straight back.I lowered my head to her ear and whispered gently, "You lost." Then, I blew a breath softly in her ear.
