Chapter 19
1
The black energy permeated through the ground beneath everyone's feet. The seven people surrounding Qin Yin were too close, and the black energy was more lethal to those closer to it.
In that instant, they felt their magic power draining from their feet, finding it increasingly difficult to breathe. They were stimulated and dazzled, never having seen such strange magic before. Overcome with fear and the loss of magic power, they instinctively stepped back. Suddenly, the black energy condensed and engulfed the two closest individuals with its inky tendrils. The other five comrades, sensing that something was wrong, didn't hesitate to run backward.
I paid them no mind and walked straight to the two individuals. With my eyes burning red, I stared at them intently. They dared not move, not even tremble. The light had vanished from their eyes, unable to perceive anything as fear consumed them entirely.
I placed my hand on the neck of one of them and exerted a little force. With a "crack," his neck made that sound, lifeless and breathless.
As for the other person, he had already collapsed to the ground, the black tendrils desperately crawling up his body. It invaded through the five orifices, and he longed to struggle in agony, but it was futile. He couldn't move any longer and had lost the strength to yell, only able to lay down obediently.
"This Qin Yang is becoming more and more mysterious," Qin Taiyuan couldn't help but question. There was nothing else he could say in the face of such a situation.
"Qin Taiyuan, what should we do now?" Others were in the same state, praying for someone to make a decisive decision to turn the tide.
"Elder?" Qin Taiyuan could only inquire about the meaning of the elder.
"Don't worry. I have an idea," the elder said.
Suddenly, when the black energy entered the bodies of the deceased, a change occurred. The person whose neck was broken suddenly began to twist his neck, gaining an inexplicable strength. The other four who had fallen also stood up, their hollow eyes clearly showing a state of being undead, accompanied by a ethereal soul behind them.
"Zombie Warriors! The banned magic from the Demon Realm. I never expected to witness it in my lifetime," the elder exclaimed, revealing the name of the magic. In his younger days, he had heard a few legends about this magic, which separated the souls of the deceased from their weakened bodies, creating two separate forms of undead soldiers.
What set this magic apart from other corpse-controlling magic was its ability to create twice the number of undead soldiers instantaneously on the battlefield.
"Ah!!!" The zombie warriors launched a sudden attack, and their opponents could only barely fight back. However, these zombies were already dead bodies, impervious to any attacks. Even with severed hands or feet, they remained resilient.
I waved my hand, and the black energy followed my movement. My hand stretched out, forming a deep black magic formation. The skull in the center of the formation suddenly trembled, as a skeletal soldier wielding a longsword charged out, surrounded by black energy. It attacked the elder relentlessly, and the elder's white light poured onto the skull, resisting the powerful impact from the skeletal soldier. Yet, the skeletal soldier dissipated instantly.
"I want to ask you a question," I stared at the elder intently.
"I know. I am the one who kidnapped you and your mother. So what?" The elder answered without asking what the question was.
"I no longer need to confirm that. The question of the kidnapping does not change what I intend to do."
"..."
"Who are you, really?"
The elder's mouth curved slightly, smiling. "Heh, who else could I be?"
"The true elder may have mixed blood with humans, but ultimately, they are descendants of both the Demon race and the Phoenix race. It's impossible for them to possess pure light magic. This is something that won't occur even after countless generations. It's something ingrained in their genes."
"That's merely the result of years of effort. Our clan seeks to establish ties with the Divine Realm. The presence of Demon genes would only displease the deities. Removing the Demon genes with our technology is not difficult."
"Hahaha!" I could only laugh with helplessness. "Don't tell me you never realized this question?"
"..." The elder listened quietly as I spoke.
"The people of the Qin family are not just descendants of the Demon race and the Phoenix race. Even if you were able to find samples of the Demon and Phoenix genes, there's one sample you will never obtain." I raised a finger to the elder, telling him mysteriously, "That is the Demon Dragon's gene."
"How... is this possible?" The Elder suddenly became a little flustered. In fact, he had conducted research on removing the demon bloodline from the Qin family members, but the real results had always been failures. They had never succeeded.
"You can speak now!" I asked.
Just then, Qin Tayuan's giant summoned beast suddenly attacked. Its massive paw lifted up, preparing to swipe down. It originally didn't want to bother with it, but it found the creature very annoying, and it's screeches were grating.
Nofice waved her Magic staff, and the little fox raised its fluffy fur. The dark energy quickly infiltrated its body, and its fiery red fur suddenly turned blood red. Its small red eyes became the same shade as mine, and its fangs and claws grew longer. Nine tails extended from behind, tightly binding the neck and limbs of the giant beast, exerting strong force with its sturdy hind legs, pulling it back.
"Roar~" The giant beast was pulled down by this small fox, its massive body crashing onto the ground, causing a tremor in the small area.
The little fox compressed its magic power in its mouth, and a small magic cannon emerged from above the giant beast's head, piercing through its body and exiting from its lower body. The massive body suddenly lost its momentum and went limp, green blood flowing like a river.
"Oh no, Qin Yang really shouldn't have provoked him. I shouldn't have listened to the Elder. What do we do now?" The giant summoned beast couldn't even withstand a single blow. This was the difference between two summoners. Qin Tayuan originally planned to duel Qin Yin alone, but when he left his house today, the Elder showed up and requested him to do this. As the leader among their own godrace, he couldn't refuse, but now he could only regret it.
Suddenly, I appeared in front of Qin Tayuan and said, "Qin Tayuan, your pet is too noisy. You should both be quiet." My right hand was covered in dark magic, and I threw a punch, but unexpectedly, the Elder blocked it.
"You actually saved them?"
"I am the Elder. It is my duty to protect our people."
"You're just pretending!"
"I don't know what nonsense you're talking about with Qin Yin having the Demon Dragon's genes. Don't make up stories!" The Elder furrowed his brow, unsure but wanting to question further, perhaps to dig out more information.
"Am I making up stories? Maybe you should explain your true origins!" I swung my right leg back, retreated, and five dead soldiers surrounded me. The Elder gathered his strength and punched them, sending them flying into the air. Then, two souls extended their sharp claws and attacked the Elder's waist and abdomen, blood flowing and staining his clothes.
The Elder touched his waist and abdomen, stopping the bleeding, and said, "Qin Yang, how much longer can you sustain this kind of magic?" He could already tell that my magic power was decreasing.
"Brother!" Wenxin and the others had already arrived according to my instructions.
"Get away from there!" Seeing Wenxin about to step into the area filled with darkness, I immediately stopped her.
"What is this?" Wenxin's expression was terrifying. To her, the darkness was repulsive and wherever it touched, there was no sign of life. Remains of blood and limbs from dead bodies were scattered around, like a chaotic burial ground. This was Wenxin's evaluation of the place.
"Corpse Qi! People inside will gradually lose their magic power and life force, while the dead can gain the ability to become walking corpses." Tesha held a book and flipped through it, finding the information easily.
"Brother, can you perform such a terrifying magic?"
"Strictly speaking, he is a Demon Dragon. No matter how terrifying the magic is, he can handle it." Elena glanced at the ten dead soldiers still advancing.
"Wenxin, go save Qin Yin, others should not approach." Wenxin and Qingqing carefully checked the people under the tree and asked, "Is this... Qin Yin?" No one would recognize Qin Yin without her disguise.
"Don't ask so many questions, just think of her as dead."
Since I said she was Qin Yin, Wenxin and the others didn't say anything. They had their tasks assigned. Wenxin took care of other injuries, while Qingqing used divine fire to heal the fatal wounds.
Elena saw Qin Yin's true face. Although her complexion was pale and haggard, she could still recognize her as the girl in the pleated skirt. She didn't hesitate and was surprised to realize it was Qin Yin.
"It's true that I don't have enough magic power, so let's determine the winner with one decisive move." The darkness quickly gathered in a swirling vortex in my right hand, compressing large amounts of mist, turning it into water, and then into a black sphere. The sphere was the size of a basketball and spun in the void on my hand. This was a powerful strike; even if I fell after throwing the sphere, I would still fight with all my might!
