Act 16: Encounter a bandit without eyes

With a slight shake, Tiran squinted his eyes and climbed up while holding his head, "Ugh... I feel dizzy and nauseous."

"Dizziness is normal, I also feel a bit motion sick. As for the nausea, it's probably the hangover," Aya replied.

"Huh? Aya?" Supporting herself and sitting up, Tiran glanced around but the bright sunlight from outside the window made it difficult for her to open her eyes. "Are we on a carriage? Weren't we playing in Beacon City?"

"Wow, I'm surprised you remember..." Aya reached out and poked Tiran's forehead. "If you can't hold your liquor, don't drink. Half a bottle of beer and you were done for. I had to carry you back, and Mimi scolded me. It's pretty cunning of you to avoid getting scolded like this!"

To be honest, Aya had considered just throwing the princess away and running off. But with that annoying contract, no matter how far he ran, a command would force him back. Running or not running made no difference.

Looking back now, Aya still shuddered at the sight of Shura, the head maid, with her terrifying aura and hair flowing without wind last night. He truly felt like he was going to be killed!

"Well, I'm sorry, I'll be more careful next time."

Rolling over on the soft woolen carpet, Tiran stretched lazily and let out a soft moan from her nostrils, causing Aya's face to turn slightly red.

After all, this was a royal carriage, not only was the cabin spacious, but the floor was also covered with thick carpets, giving it the feeling of a soft bed.

After rolling a few times, Tiran reluctantly sat up again, "Ah... I need to brush my teeth."

Aya raised an eyebrow, "You can skip brushing your teeth. You already did it while sleepwalking... How did you develop this weird skill?"

"Don't underestimate humans who have gone through the college entrance examination. Brushing their teeth while catching up on sleep is a necessary skill for students." Tiran muttered quietly.

"What on earth..." Aya sighed.

It was probably around 11 a.m. now. The convoy had completely left the territory of the second princess and was officially heading towards the capital city along the west coast.

"Ah, a month-long journey, so boring." Leaning on a low table and staring at the scenery outside the window, Tiran complained weakly.

"Miss, you have complained at least thirty times in the past half hour. Can you please stop?" Aya rubbed his ear with a pained expression on his face.

"But it really is boring! Damn it, why is this journey so peaceful? Can't we encounter some bandits or robbers? Even meeting some monsters would be fun!"

This woman definitely belonged to the type that fears peace and quiet!

But on second thought, it was unlikely that anything troublesome, which Tiran had been eagerly anticipating, would happen on this journey. The Holy Milania Kingdom was relatively stable, with good public security, and the convoy's royal banner, as well as the dozens of fully armed knights as escorts, were enough to deter petty criminals.

"You brought a lot of books, didn't you? It shouldn't be a problem to pass the time with them, right?"

"What are you talking about?" Tiran blushed, "Even if they're mine, I can't openly read them in front of others!"

"...Alright, I don't need to say anything. I can guess what kind of books you brought. And this 'even if they're mine,' is quite fitting!"

Aya decided not to say anything, but Tiran looked interested and leaned in, "Aya, what are you looking at?"

"Newspapers, newspapers." Aya shook the new type of publication that had only appeared in the human world in the past few decades, his gaze not leaving the paper. Suddenly, his expression became subtle. "However, Princess, you are quite high-profile."

"Huh?" Tiran was puzzled.

"Silver Valkyrie, White Rose Knight... I didn't know you had so many titles." Aya seemed to be trying hard not to laugh.

"Let me see!" Realizing something, Tiran snatched the newspaper from Aya's hands. The bold headline caught her eye... it was actually reporting her dragon slaying feat!

There was also a half-page illustration, not sure which hot-blooded manga artist drew it, as it seemed that he had never witnessed the scene himself but managed to forcefully imagine a picture of Angel battling demons in the netherworld. Tiran couldn't help but admire the imagination and drawing skills.

- Even though the actual situation was Aya being defeated by her with a single strike."And this news report... what kind of news report is this? It's clearly written in the style of an epic legend from a troubadour's mouth, and it's filled with a strong sense of chuunibyou! Who the heck wrote this?" Tiran frowned and went to look at the name of the author at the bottom.

"'♡Silver Princess'...? What a strange pen name." Aya noticed that the hand holding the newspaper next to her was trembling.

"You darn old man! You're dead when I get to the royal capital!"

Old... old man?! Wait a minute, could it be?

Aya's eyes widened suddenly, and she clutched her head. Could this author be...

After thinking it through, Aya gave in. The royal family of Milaneya is quite terrifying to some extent. Better not mess with them.

...

After a while, the maid Mimi was forcefully brought over by Tiran from the escorting truck and she knelt down on a wool carpet to read the headline report. Her expression became quite amusing after reading it.

"Slayer of the Frost Dragon... Silver Sky Sword Saint... Frozen for a Thousand Miles... Absolute Zero..." Mimi's cute face twisted slightly, and she tried hard not to laugh, but it looked like quite a struggle.

"Mimi, you too!"

"Sorry... Your Highness, it wasn't intentional, but this is really interesting... hehe." Unable to resist any longer, Mimi let out a light laugh, took a deep breath, and then regained her composure.

"So what's the deal with all this?"

"Actually... His Majesty mentioned this as well. The purpose is to build up excitement for Your Highness's return to the royal capital. I just didn't expect His Majesty's writing skills to be so... profound."

"So, in the end, it was that old man, right?" Tiran's expression turned dark, and her fists clenched tightly.

Aya suddenly became worried about the yet-to-be-met King.

"Leaving aside everything else, from this article and your experience at the beacon... could it be that you're actually an extraordinarily powerful fighter?" Aya pondered for a while with her chin in her hand, then opened her eyes and asked seriously.

"You're just realizing that now?" Tiran rolled her eyes. How dense can this person be? She had experienced firsthand being struck down by her own sword, yet she still didn't have a correct understanding of her strength?

"Well... that's because my parents always scolded me for being a disgrace to the Dragons. I always thought I was weak, so being struck down by you with just one sword didn't seem like a big deal." Aya seemed to realize something and suddenly pounded her palm with excitement on her face, revealing a joyful expression. "So, does that mean I'm not completely useless after all?"

Useless... the Golden Dragon should never be associated with those words, right?

"Of course not. If you were at a normal level, you wouldn't have any problem going head-to-head with the Dragon Slayers. Although Hussein is quite strong, he's just a grand knight and there's still some gap between him and the Golden Dragon."

"Wait, what do you mean by 'just a grand knight'? If I remember correctly, aren't you also a grand knight?"

"Well, it's just a title. Once you reach a certain standard, the Knight Association awards you with that title. So even though we're both grand knights, there's still a difference in our abilities."

"...I really can't understand the hierarchical division among you humans." Aya became confused.

"It's actually quite simple and crude. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine. There are nine levels, and at the eighth level, there are titles like grand knight and grand mage. Honestly, if this world were a game script, the designer would definitely be a super lazy person." Tiran spread her hands and said, "By the way, based on what I've seen, your level should be at the top of the ninth level. And if we include Dragon Magic, most of the ninth-level guys wouldn't be able to beat you."

"Huh? So you mean I'm actually strong?"

"Compared to most people, yes. But now..." Tiran shook the contract charm on the back of her hand, "Having a seventh-level is already quite impressive."

"Can the master please release the seal! I want to show off too!"

"Do you think that's possible?" Tiran sneered.

"I guess not..."

It was a really painful feeling. Having cultivated unparalleled skills but staying hidden in the mountains and forests, and now finally having the opportunity to show off but having her martial arts disabled...

The carriage suddenly shook violently and came to a slow stop. There were also loud noises outside.

The window of the carriage was tapped open, and Gavifett, who was on a horse, had already drawn his sword in his hand. "Your Highness, bandits are attacking outside. Please wait a moment."Oh my god, is this for real?...

I don't know if these bandits are just crazy or their eyesight is bad, but they actually managed to rob the royal convoy. It's basically like putting their heads in the mouth of a gun.

No surprises here, even if they had multiplied their numbers, these miscellaneous bandits would never stand a chance against dozens of formally knighted warriors. The only one who had some power, the leader, was beheaded by Gevith, and the rest of the bandits immediately scattered like birds and beasts. In the end, Gevith and his knights led a successful raid on their hideout.

"They were quite ferocious." Aya stood in the camp and calmly commented after surveying the area.

After the battle, the knights hadn't had a chance to clean up the battlefield. The crude camp was littered with bandit corpses and splattered blood, the pungent smell of blood assaulting their senses. Almost all the hundreds of bandits who managed to escape back to their hideout were killed.

"Well, let's just say we were eliminating a threat to the people. Plus, these guys had taken many lives themselves, so it's only fair we make some extra money," Tylan furrowed her brows, not because she found the bloody scene before her unbearable, but because the burnt wood and the stench of blood mixed together was rather unpleasant. But considering they could expand their little treasure trove with the loot these bandits had amassed over the years, she was willing to put up with it.

"Your Highness, we have finished cleaning up."

Gevith walked out of one of the wooden buildings where the bandits had resided, the bloodstains on his armor still not yet cleaned. His expression was somewhat gloomy.

"Okay then, good work everyone."

"In addition to storing the goods we found in the storeroom, we also discovered something special," Gevith hesitated for a moment before continuing.
