I smiled at her.
"I knew it, my sister must be interested in the time traveler who can defeat that person."
Just as I finished speaking, a pair of hands grabbed my shoulders. I looked at Agelia's wine-red eyes, and she said to me seriously, "I'm more worried about you being bullied. If anyone dares to do such a thing, I will personally deal with him before that person even gets a chance!"
I weakly smiled, thinking her words are too serious…! I am a boy when I take off my clothes, who would bully me?
Moreover, the hero is a real girl.
However, because I promised to keep the hero's secret, I didn't tell my sister that the hero is disguised as a boy.
"Let's go meet the time traveler now."
"One moment!"
I put my hands together, already used to acting spoiled with her — "You must keep my identity as a saint a secret from the hero! Can you do that?"
"Do you insist on this? Alright."
With that, she held my hand. Agelia's hands are always so warm.
"Let's go."
"Okay…"
I closed my eyes in preparation. In an instant, I felt a gust of wind carrying me away, my heart beating faster and making it hard for me to breathe. When I opened my eyes, I was already standing at the entrance of the Fontainebleau Mansion.
This is Agelia's teleportation magic…
...
...
...
Ten minutes later, Agelia and the hero sat facing each other across the crystal coffee table in the living room, while I brewed a pot of black tea for them, adding slices of lemon.
"Fir, stop being so busy and come sit next to me." Agelia looked at me and patted the sofa with her hand.
"Okay." I nodded, knowing she was concerned about me.
"I heard you want to learn magic?" She turned to the hero and asked.
"Yes, I am actually very curious about magic. Can you teach me?" The hero asked.
I sat down next to Agelia and watched her pick up the teacup and drink the black tea I brewed. I knew she liked the taste of lemon, so I specifically added lemon slices for her.
"First, you need to understand what magic is." She placed the teacup down and continued, "Let's start with holy light. Holy light is the core energy in our world, surrounding and permeating everything. It is worshipped as divine."
"You mean the holy light that the prophecy says can defeat the Demon King?"
"Correct, and the intersection of holy light and darkness creates shadows, which is magic."
Agelia explained it so succinctly, and I was a bit worried that the hero wouldn't understand. But in reality, I was overthinking it, as the hero understood after just two seconds of silence.
"So magic is derived from holy light, right?"
"That's right. Holy light itself is pure and immaculate. Only the Saint of the Holy Light Church can summon the purest holy light. The magic used by mages is essentially rendered holy light, and its strength is determined by the degree of rendering. We call it the magic abyss, and the closer a mage is to the abyss, the stronger they are."
The hero nodded in understanding.
I sat dignifiedly, seeming calm on the surface, but actually sweating nervously inside. Why did Agelia have to bring me up? Whenever I think about how magic apprentice classes are taught like this, I feel embarrassed and want to cover my face.
Agelia continued, "Magic has different attributes for different people, and it is generally divided into four major categories."
"Ice, fire, wind, and earth?" The hero asked.
"It's manipulation, transformation, enchantment, and illusion."
"... " The hero fell silent.
"It's difficult for you to understand just by listening. I will demonstrate it, and you will understand."
"Okay."
Agelia glanced at the teacup, and the black tea inside rose up, like a jelly suspended in mid-air.
"Wow." The hero exclaimed.
"This is manipulation."
Next, Agelia spread open her palm, and a miniature tornado spun in her hand.
"This is transformation. Mage of the transformation category will manifest their own magic in various elemental forms, which vary from person to person, like frost or flames, for example. We call it mimetic."
The hero nodded. "It's easy to understand. It's the same as what I just mentioned about ice, fire, wind, and earth, they are actually all part of the four major categories."Agelia remained noncommittal and picked up a slice of lemon from a small cup filled with lemon slices. She clasped the lemon slice between her fingers, and in an instant, I felt a profound power flowing through her fingers and onto the lemon slice. She lightly swiped the lemon slice against the corner of the crystal coffee table - snap! The corner of the table broke off.
"This is enchantment. Of course, what I demonstrated was just the most basic aspect. The true art of enchantment is much more complex," she explained.
I helplessly looked at the broken table corner, wondering how I would repair it...
"Next, we have the last one, transmutation," Agelia said.
I anxiously glanced at her, realizing it was finally time for transmutation.
She...
Could it be...
Is she going to transmute it here in the living room?
I started to worry. If she truly transmutes that thing, the consequences won't be as simple as just the coffee table.
Both the hero and I watched as Agelia slowly drew out a long sword from the rippling air.
It was pitch black, and this time, it had a scabbard, unlike when I had last seen it.
"This is the ability to create matter through magic, or rather, to manifest your imagination into reality. It is powerful enough to interfere with reality and alter space," she explained.
I couldn't help but exhale a sigh of relief. It was just a false alarm.
