The Great Event of Forced Marriage

The ruler of a country, either deals with thousands of affairs or thousands of concubines.

Due to Isabella's ordinary sexual orientation and lack of desire in that aspect, she became the latter type of ruler.

After bidding farewell to her newly recognized master, Isabella returned to her own bedroom, which served as not only a place to sleep but also as an office;

This queen, who would feel uncomfortable all over if she didn't work for a day, briefly recalled the events with her master while flipping through the pile of memorials and official documents on her desk.

Similar scenes had played out in the bright bedroom many times before, with none being particularly special, except for today...

It all started with a memorial, the contents of which were short but had an invigorating effect on the queen as soon as she read it:

"Your Majesty, at your age, the common folks have already found suitable partners for marriage. Should Your Majesty also consider finding someone?"

The memorial was sent by a local lord and conveyed a warmth and concern from his subordinates. At first glance, there seemed to be no problem.

But Isabella felt strange. Her current state of mind could be compared to that of an unmarried woman of a certain age being pressured by her parents to get married during the Lunar New Year, and it didn't feel good no matter how she thought about it.

In terms of age, she was still very young, only nineteen years old, not even the age to get married in the Heavenly Dynasty;

However, the laws of Dibiles stated that citizens were considered adults at the age of sixteen. Objectively speaking, Isabella was indeed at the age to get married;

After all, in one more year, when she reached the age of twenty, she would truly be one of the latecomers in terms of marriage in the country.

Here was the situation:

The Empress was old enough, and the people below had similar thoughts. So why hesitate? Just find someone who looks pleasing and bring them into the palace, right?

But Isabella refused!

"I have no interest in marriage, nor do I believe in the so-called 'suitable partner'. Stop making a fuss down there."

With the royal feather pen, she scribbled a line of words at the bottom of the memorial, which was then thrown into the pile of processed documents. In a few days, it would be returned to the hands of that lord.

The "marriage proposal" incident seemed to be a small interlude at the moment;

Although it was eye-catching for a while, since Isabella didn't pay much attention to it, after it was processed, the matter could be considered closed...

But it was not that simple. That one memorial was just the "beginning".

Perhaps the people below had discussed it, during the usual half-month period without a single memorial being presented, today everyone had something to say;

Not only that, they all spoke about the same thing:

The viscount suggested that the Empress marry, the earl also suggested it, the marquis suggested it, and the duke...

With just one memorial, without repeating those clichéd phrases at the beginning, the content was as follows:

"Report to Your Majesty, there have been abnormal military activities by the Inran Empire recently;

In case of any eventuality, our border garrison has already prepared to counter their attack."

The content seems serious, doesn't it? Like the words of a reliable and loyal minister, right?

But don't rush to a conclusion; there's more to the second half of the sentence:

"However, considering that our country may likely engage in a war with our former ally, Your Majesty, should you consider getting married?

According to the saying on the eastern side of the continent, if you get married now, it will bring joy to the entire nation..."

"You guys are quite skillful at this. It's a pity you're not matchmakers!"

Isabella slammed the table and stood up, her complexion looking much healthier than before. The frequency of receiving identical memorials made Isabella almost feel as if she was being pressurized into taking the throne. Naturally, once she calmed down and analyzed the situation, she could draw the conclusion that those people were afraid. After ruling out the possibility of her subordinates collectively going crazy, Isabella could only link the lords' reactions to an ongoing major event: The former ally of Dibiles, the Inran Empire, was making preparations for war, and anyone who wasn't completely indifferent to the situation of the nations was well aware of one reality - the two countries were definitely going to war, and it would happen very soon!

Since the country was about to face a great war, it was only natural for the lords to request Isabella to hold the wedding as soon as possible, out of concern for the future of the empire. Because once the empress got married, it meant that she would soon drink the water from the "Sea of Reproduction" to conceive the next emperor. The lords might have prepared for the worst-case scenario of the current emperor sacrificing himself, which is why they chose to jointly submit their request on the same day. By suggesting the empress' marriage, they indirectly left a root for the imperial family. In case the conflict between the two countries escalated into a long-term war, it was uncertain how much the next emperor would grow during the war. At that time, those lords, knowing that they were protecting the future ruler of Dibiles, would undoubtedly have more determination and courage to fight to the death.

After understanding their intentions, Isabella's soaring emotions suddenly stabilized. The words she wrote in the memorial, to be given back to the subordinates, appeared much calmer compared to before. Just at this moment, Sister Glasses, who hadn't gone to sleep yet, walked in from the slightly open door and knocked before entering. Considering the other party was her confidant, Isabella didn't shut out Sister Glasses, expressing her permission for her to be there.
