After leaving the merchant's mansion, it was already afternoon. Regardless of what Iss said, the merchant insisted on keeping Iss there until after lunch. As a result, time dragged on and the church people noticed that Iss had escaped the mansion, starting a wide search for Iss. Luckily, Iss managed to avoid the search because he was having lunch at the merchant's mansion at that time.

Throwing the money bag up, Iss hummed happily and walked with a much lighter step. With money in hand, Iss no longer had to watch the merchants shout and could now ask about prices and buy things freely.

"Miss is acting like a child now."

"Huh?"

Is Camilla the type of person to say something like that?

Iss stiffened for a moment, then turned to look at Camilla, who still had no expression, and cleared his throat.

"This is a normal reaction. When you have money, you can buy things you like and be happy. Isn't that normal?"

Just like the different feelings between payday and the day the salary runs out, Iss tried to justify his behavior.

"Things I like... I cannot understand."

"Well, Camilla lived in that kind of environment before, so it's normal to have no interests or hobbies. You'll understand eventually."

Previously, Iss saw Camilla staring at stalls selling live animals on the street. Perhaps Camilla was interested in small animals. With that in mind, Iss opened the all-knowing map and found the free market.

After about five minutes, Iss and Camilla arrived at a crowded square. Since the streets of Nilu City were not paved with bricks and the weather was dry in autumn, the entire market gave off a dusty feeling.

Of course, this did not diminish Iss' excitement for shopping. Shopping always made someone happy, especially in a different world that he had never seen before.

"There are so many people."

Camilla commented with narrowed eyes, her hand pressing down her wind-blown golden hair. Because Camilla was half a head taller than Iss, she could see much more than he could.

"Does Camilla have any shopping experience?"

"If Miss is referring to buying magic books and alchemy materials, then yes, I have done that once."

"I'm not talking about that. I mean shopping more like what girls do."

"Shopping like what girls do?"

Camilla tilted her head, a look of confusion appearing in her deep, red eyes.

Iss awkwardly looked away. In fact, he didn't know what girls' shopping was like either. He had just said it casually earlier.

"Ah well, let's just go buy things first."

"Yes, Miss."

Soon, Iss led Camilla into the crowd. Perhaps due to training, Camilla always walked half a step behind Iss.

Before long, Iss' attention was drawn to a tent on the side of the road.

In front of the tent were a group of children with their wrists tied by rope. Their faces were pale yellow and they were clearly malnourished. Not far from them, there was a wooden sign with twisted numbers on it. Several obese men were loudly arguing about the price.

After a moment of stunned silence, Iss realized what was happening.

Slave trading.

It was not an underground or secret transaction, but a legitimate trade done in broad daylight.

So this was how it was in the human world too.

Feeling uncomfortable, Iss instinctively averted his gaze.

"Miss, do you want to buy a slave?"

"No, I don't have that intention."

Shaking his head, Iss left straight away.

Since Camilla seemed interested in pets, Iss took her to the nearest pet shop. Of course, it was more of a pet store in name only, with not many pets on display and limited to dogs. According to the owner, if you wanted more advanced pets, you had to go to the noble street. Here, pets were only available to slightly wealthier families. In a different world where even having enough to eat was still a problem, buying a pet was a privilege of the rich."It seems to really like Camilla," Iss said, looking down at the crouching Camilla. In Iss's eyes, the repeated motion of reaching out and pulling back her hand in front of the cage was an expression of wanting to touch but being afraid of getting bitten by the dog.

In fact, every time Camilla pulled her hand back, the pet dog would bark furiously, but when she extended her hand, the pet dog would obediently stop barking as if it was telling Camilla to hurry up and take it away.

Iss's words made Camilla stand up. "I'm not doing this to please the guests, but because I'll be beaten when I go back."

"Huh?" Iss couldn't help feeling troubled by Camilla's abrupt remark, which sounded like that of a prostitute.

"Sister used to have many pets, right? If they couldn't satisfy their owners, the pets would be killed," Camilla said.

"That's right..." While the eldest daughter of the Count was also aggressive as a child, she didn't treat humans or her own kind as objects of abuse like she did now. At most, she would take it out on her pets. As Iss traced back his memories, he suddenly realized that the eldest daughter of the Count had kept many girls as pets in their own mansion, and those girls all saw themselves as pets, obedient to the whims of the eldest daughter.

Seeing some inappropriate images, Iss felt his head spinning. He shook his head and forced himself to clear his drifting thoughts.

Woof woof. The dog in the cage barked again. With Camilla's preconceived notion, Iss began to feel a sense of affection in the barking.

"Have you ever thought about having a pet, Camilla?" Iss asked.

"No, it seems like too much trouble," Camilla replied.

"But you seemed interested before."

"I was just thinking about when they would die and why, and whether the trained ones would ever disobey their owners' orders."

Camilla's expression was so indifferent as she spoke that the store manager, who wanted to say a few words, could only smile awkwardly.

Iss jokingly said, "Camilla, you're not insinuating something about me, are you?"

"No, I'm just answering because you asked, and I won't disobey your orders like these pets," Camilla replied.

Camilla's words attracted the attention of passersby, and Iss quickly changed the topic.

"Alright, alright, since we rarely go out, are you really not going to buy anything?"

"Only if you tell me to take care of it."

"In that case, forget it."

Keeping a pet was originally for leisure. If Camilla didn't want to have one and Iss forced her to do it, it would be a burden for her.

Quickly losing interest, Iss waved his hand. "Let's go to the clothing store."

"Alright, Lady Camilla."
