Sigmund didn't immediately chat with Tende too much. Instead, he had the girl take Tende on a tour of the place.

He called it a "reception."

Tende knew what this meant, a cheap trick.

So it was clear that Sigmund was not a very skilled manager.

But Tende still followed Kerim's lead and walked around this place called the Beacon by The Vigilant.

Although Tende didn't understand why this bookstore-like place was called a beacon, he didn't mind.

It was just a kind of safe haven.

Inside the "beacon" were all kinds of things, some looking antiquated, others looking ordinary. It gave Tende the feeling of being in a collector's room.

During his visit, Tende played with some trinkets, and Kerim seemed to have no objections.

So it seemed that the things here were not very important secrets.

Kerim, a shy girl, tried her best to engage in conversation while showing Tende around.

But in the end, the atmosphere between Tende and Kerim remained awkward. It was impossible for a person who was not talkative to suddenly become talkative.

Luckily, Kerim and Tende didn't spend too much time alone together. After a few rounds, Tende was brought back in front of Sigmund.

If they had spent more time together, Kerim might have become withdrawn.

Sigmund sat behind the table, looking at Tende with a smile. "After the tour, what do you think?"

He seemed completely oblivious to what Kerim had experienced.

"I didn't feel anything special," Tende shook his head. He simply felt like he had just walked around a collector's room.

As for gratitude, he could only say there was none. After all, when he wrote reflections after visiting museums in the past, his conclusion was always "nothing."

"The things you saw just now are called the 'Image phenomenon,'" Sigmund said with a soft voice.

"Image phenomenon?" Tende looked at Sigmund with confusion.

He vaguely remembered that Sigmund had mentioned this a few days ago.

Sigmund nodded, Tende's reaction didn't exceed his expectations. "This is what I'm going to explain to you next and it's what we, The Vigilant, deal with."

There are many incredible things in the world, things that often defy common sense and cannot be understood.

The existence of these things, even their birth, is too absurd and is considered to only exist in people's unrealistic imagination.

Their appearance is treated as a phenomenon, whether they are people or certain things.

This is what is called the "Image phenomenon."

But that's just a rough explanation; if you want to delve deeper, Image phenomenon can be a complex subject, just like quantum mechanics.

However, the things Tende saw just now didn't seem absurd or unreasonable in any way.

"I can give you some examples of what you saw earlier," Sigmund said. "That way, you might have a better understanding of the Image phenomenon."

It was just to lay the groundwork that Tende went to the "collector's room."

"First, the painting closest to the entrance, the patterns on it are actually living creatures," Sigmund said.

Tende thought back and didn't think the painting was anything special. "Living creatures?"

"I'm not sure if you can call them living creatures, since they are Image phenomenon," Sigmund also hesitated for a moment. "They have their own lives, and they even eat every stroke and stroke that is painted on it."

"The way to feed them is to draw on the paper."

..." In an instant, Tende was a bit skeptical if Sigmund was joking.

However, Sigmund's expression was somewhat serious, dispelling Tende's thoughts."And there should be a suit of armor in your room, made of paper. But as long as you don't attack it, you won't know that it's easily breakable, quite deceptive."

"But it would get wet if you splashed water on it."

"...Tende's expression became even stranger.

Is this supposed to be a joke?

"The things you just saw were actually relatively harmless, they're still in good condition as long as they are left alone," Sigmund paused, "but there are still some dangerous Image phenomena."

"It's more accurate to say that the majority of them are dangerous."

Weird and distorted anomalies actually permeate every corner of the world.

The Image phenomena in the collection room are simply considered "fun" at best.

Otherwise, The Vigilant wouldn't be so bold as to just leave them there.

But even so, these things are under constant surveillance by The Vigilant.

"Is what you, The Vigilant, do just containment of these things?" Tende made a connection to a famous series and couldn't help but ask.

"Containment? No, what we, The Vigilant, do is eradicate dangerous Image phenomena," Sigmund shook his head.

"Indeed, there are some Image phenomena that can't be eradicated, but that's not our responsibility, there are others who will handle containment." Sigmund answered.

The things in the collection room are actually occasionally brought back by accident.

The Vigilant won't let those extremely sinister Image phenomena exist like that.

"If we compare the morning to the ordinary world and the night to the abnormal world."

"Then The Vigilant is the person guarding at dusk."

"Everything we do is to keep the daily life from encountering anomalies and prevent anomalies from eroding daily life."

At the border between day and night, The Vigilant is needed.

Just like how Tende hasn't noticed this kind of Image phenomena in the world over the past twenty years, the majority of ordinary people don't know about them.

Because The Vigilant protects them well.

However, keeping Image phenomena unknown to ordinary people is definitely not just because of wanting to keep it as a secret.

"The intrusion of abnormality into daylight will have effects beyond anyone's imagination," Sigmund said quietly, but he didn't delve further into the discussion with Tende, "After seeing and hearing all this, do you have any thoughts?"

Tende rubbed his chin and began to ponder.

Tende now has a general understanding of The Vigilant and Image phenomena from what Sigmund said, but he doesn't want to become one of The Vigilant just because of Sigmund's words.

His heart remained calm, even thinking about how to leave without causing conflict with Sigmund.

Although he is only in his twenties in this world, he is actually quite an experienced person considering his past life.

"The Vigilant doesn't really appeal to me," Tende said in a hoarse voice.

It's too dangerous, better to sleep peacefully.

And it sounds like a job with reversed day and night shifts, he used to have such shifts when he was a police officer, it was exhausting.

"But you can rest assured that I won't spread these things to others."

The main point is that even if he did speak out, no one would believe him.

"Mr. Tende..." Sigmund sighed heavily.

He thought Tende would agree readily.

"Fine, let's change the direction of our conversation."

"From what we understand, you seem to be in a tight financial situation."

"Uh..." Tende was momentarily speechless.

Due to the downturn in the detective profession, Tende's income is not high.

Although he could do other things to make money, he doesn't really want to.Yes, yes, it's not that he doesn't have money, it's that he doesn't want to.
