The little boy knocked out his sister who was struggling and crying with his hand and looked up at me with a face of feigned strength.

"Thank you."

The little boy put his sister on his back and was ready to leave.

I was still wondering what had just happened.

Could the soldiers from this Kingdom kill people casually? Perhaps that soldier would have died with a sword.

However, I answered him as gently as I could.

"You're welcome. So where are you going now?"

"Home."

"Let me go with you too."

"No need."

The boy lowered his head and walked out of the alley, carrying his sister on his back.

I followed them out together, looking at the darkening sun in the sky. Maybe I should go back too.

But looking at the thin back of the little boy stepping into the afterglow of the sunset, my heart felt compassion.

"Sidell."

I just remembered the little boy's name .

Sidell looked back at me, his long bangs almost covering his eyes. From the slit in his bangs I saw his sad eyes.

I was going to ask why they thought their mother would not come back, but I was afraid to make him even sadder.

So I pulled out all the money I had left on me. Anyway, the master was the devil, and there must be more money than I could use.

"I give you all of the money."

I didn’t expect that Sidell refused me coldly and gritted his teeth after hearing what I said.

"No need."

My outstretched hand froze. However, I tried to make me gentle.

"It must be hard for you two kids to live..."

"I said no need!"

Sidell yelled at me suddenly, and interrupted me while I stood completely confused and dumbfounded in place.

"For people like you who always live in the upper class, you surely won't understand us. After all , you have been growing up with people serving and taking good care, with never ending money on you. It is obvious that you are much older than us, but live like an innocent baby! Don’t Insult us with your self-righteous kindness, and mock us for being poor!"

It was very unpleasant for me to be misunderstood in retrospect. But what I have done probably seemed like I was giving out charity. This kid's pride was too strong. It was obvious that he looked only seven or eight years old but he had too much self-esteem.

I grabbed the coins in my hand, instead of expressing anger at his remark, I smiled faintly.

"I am not from the upper class."

I was just an ordinary person. I have recently arrived in this world. I was just a slave whose human rights had been taken away but I didn't express to you.

"Anyway, if I come back, my money will go back to my master. Since you hate that kind of people, shouldn't you think you should take the money for nothing? After all, the money are gotten from exploiting our people from the lower class!"

Sure enough Sidell’s anger subsided, and his expression became puzzled.

"Your master?"

"Well, just look at my collar."

I nodded and pointed to my own collar.

"So that turned out to be a collar?"

I looked down at my neck in confusion, but I couldn't see the collar.

I had to borrow my fourth-level ability and cast the view from Sidell's eyes into mine.

So I realized it. When did the collar become like this? The collar was softly hanging on my neck, and became not round. The silver-white collar was decorated with red stones before , but now it looks feel like a piece of jewelry.

Sidell showed a look of admiration.

"Your master is indeed the noble. I’m so surprised that the collar is so beautiful."

I smiled awkwardly and reopened my palm.

"Take it."

Sidell lowered his head and seemed to feel ambivalent.

But finally Sidell held his sister behind him with one hand and extended his hand with his trembling hand.

I put those silver coins gently into his hand.

Sidell bit his lower lip, seemingly reluctant.

"Thank you..."

His voice was as weak as a mosquito. Sidell put the coins down his pocket, then twisted and turned around to continue walking.

By the way I asked that question, "Your mother said she would come back. Don't be so discouraged."

"It's very likely that she won't come back. Last time if it wasn't my dad, maybe my mom would have died."

"What about your dad?"

I remembered that Sidell’s sister said that their father had died in battle.

"My dad had died for protecting my mom."

I followed Sidell, not knowing how to answer. Should I say your dad is really a good man?

I changed the subject.

"You two kids, are you really okay?"

"Nothing. Anyway we are always like this. It's just that Mom only came back for a long stay during the two years of the truce."

Have they always been like this? Then in that case, the war stopped for two years, which meaned they lived independently when they were young?!? No, I overlooked a problem: the life expectancy of the demon people.
