64. Sharing dinner with Lena
update icon Updated at 2025/4/15 16:10:12

"Master, can you...take Lena to lunch with you?"

I carefully asked.

After all, the master is usually very serious, and it will more or less damage the dignity for the demon king to let an ordinary human and her sit together at the table.

Will the master agree?

As expected, the master hesitated. She raised her head and gazed at me seriously. Lena around her seemed to feel the heavy atmosphere all of a sudden and then she squeezed my hand.

"Well, whatever, I don't mind."

If not for Lena here I think I would be happy to jump up and hug the master. The master is willing to condescend herself for me. When I think of it, I feel so happy and excited.

As if infected by me, the master also smiled.

"You go to bring the lunch. Do not let others know that there is a human to eat with us."

"Okay."

I let go of Lena's hand in response.

"Lena, you stay here with my master and I go and bring the lunch."

In Lena's fearful and helpless expression I walked out of the room and went straight to the big kitchen. It would take a little time until the lunch was finished.

After coming to the human kingdom, the diet here leans towards East Asia, like the addition of something like rice. Breathing in the aroma of rice, I feel the kind of taste of home on Earth.

Usually the master doesn’t have fancy dinner each time, but on the contrary each meal is very light, very little meat, mostly vegetable salad. This time, because I brought Lena, I asked the kitchen cook for a few extra pieces of meat.

"Lord Yiluodiya, can you really serve it alone? Don't push yourself too hard. We can help too."

The maid who lost her job on the side looked at me a little nervously with two iron plates in both hands.

"It's okay."

Even if I make any mistake, the master will not blame them.

Back to the master's room, the master is still lying in the chair and is gazing at Lena. She looks very serious, with the usual indifferent face in public. It is strange that this look does not scare children. Lena stood silently, and the master looked at her for a moment. I found Lena lowered her head with a nervous face through the master’s pupils.

So I opened my mouth to interrupt the heavy and awkward atmosphere.

"Dinner's ready."

Lena turned her head to look at me like she had grabbed a lifeline and slightly soothed her expression.

After placing the lunch on the table, I turned around and closed the door, then took Lena's hand and sat her at the table.

Then I ran to the master, bent down next to her face and asked in a low voice: "Master, you really do not mind? If you feel uncomfortable with a human, I'd better take Lena to my room."

The master smiled slightly and then she reached out and touched my head. She then pushed my head away from her.

"It's okay. Just be happy."

Because Lena was still here, I controlled my impulse to jump up and hug my master.

My master also got up from her chair after I stood up straight and sat at the table with me.

Lena and I sat face to face with my master. I chose to sit next to Lena to take care of her.

"Don't be too formal."

I turned my head sideways and soothed Lena in a gentle tone.

Lena nodded, and only after we all did she began to have meals.

But when she lifted the rice bowl as we did, her left hand kept trembling. Lena quickly put the bowl down when she almost knocked that bowl over, tears welling up in her eyes. She was very terrified that she would be reprimanded by us.

I was just about to open my mouth to comfort her, however, my master said first before me.

"Just hold it up. No need to carry it up, and no need to be like us."

Breezy tone, no reproach, nor gentle.

Probably Lean hasn’t been able to control that prosthetic limb properly yet. Fortunately, it wasn't the right hand that held the chopsticks that I cut off in the first place, or fortunately Lena is not left-handed.

What the master said gave Lena great comfort, so Lena held back her tears quietly and bowed her head to eat the food.

Watching her only take the plate of vegetables in front of her, I was really a little helpless.

I think it's my fault. The little one must have been terrified, but that's exactly what I wanted.

I took the initiative to give Lena a piece of meat, and she looked at me sideways in a flattered way.

"Don't be so scared. Relax. Isn’t a shame not to enjoy such delicious food?"

Lena looked at the master and me constantly. For a while she nodded, and did not make any more mistakes on the way, and ate quietly.

The master also does not like to talk when eating. I don’t care anymore. Since they all like silence I also do not want to break the atmosphere.

But as I ate, I became dumbfounded.

This looks like a family of three.

Although the three members of the family is a bit weird, and we are not the same race, I also hope that one day my master and I will be able to enjoy a family lunch together with a child in such a cozy way.

Change the current heavy atmosphere, adding a joyful background to the fantasy.

By then we also have a cute daughter. Because our daughter can not reach the middle of the table and get the dishes, she will be constantly shouting ‘mommy, mommy, I want this. I want that. The cute look of our future daughter makes me feel happy.

So who will play the role of the mother?

"Yiluodiya."

"Huh?"

The master suddenly interrupted my delusions. I came back to my sense and then looked at the master's meaningful smile.

Is ...... is... is master opening mind-reading, right?

Then won't all my fantasies just be exposed to the master?

My cheeks instantly burned up, so ashamed!
