Seven Days of Larry and Charlotte (1)

I've crossed over.

Yeah, I've crossed over with my powerful in-game attributes.

But why can't I feel happy about this?

I silently stood by the window, rubbing my fingers against the exquisite windowsill, gazing at the scenery outside.

The gentle morning breeze brushed across his cheek, making him feel extremely refreshed.

Even the air I breathe seemed much more invigorating than Earth's.

But why can't I feel happy?

I slowly lowered my head to look at my right hand. A burning flame was blazing in my palm. It extinguished and turned into solid ice, then into a gentle breeze, rocks, lightning, tree leaves, and even a luminous ball and a dark mist.

"I always thought such things never existed."

The flow of magical energy in my hand ceased, and the dark mist dispersed into the air.

Larry's mouth curved into a bitter smile. Many people had longed for this, and many stories began with fantasies like this on the internet, and it all suddenly happened to him.

I've crossed over to another world; ah, how marvelous.

I even brought along everything from my game account.

Perhaps others would feel extremely excited, but to Larry, reality meant facing the ignorance and fear of the new world.

He knew nothing about this world, and his knowledge was disconnected from everyone else.

He knew nothing about the power structure of this world. Sure, his attributes were high, but who knew if there were even higher and more powerful beings in this world?

In novels, didn't the protagonist always seem to reach the max level before discovering a new realm and encountering stronger people?

Who knew if he would encounter such situations?

Just yesterday, he had been proudly using his magic to show off his might. Yet today, he was hiding like a mouse, shivering in his luxurious room.

"This is so lame…"

Holding onto the windowsill, Larry buried his head in his arms.

He hadn't been out since last night.

He even had the dinner Riker sent his way rejected.

He just wanted to stay here quietly by himself, regardless of the stormy waves outside.

"Knock knock knock—"

The door was knocked, disturbing Larry by the window.

Startled, he turned around, and said impatiently: "Didn't I say not to bother me anymore?! I don't need food; leave me alone!"

After that, Larry walked heavily to the bed and lay down, silently staring at the ceiling.

The knocking had disappeared, and he must have scared the person away with his rude behavior.

"Am I being impolite…"

Larry covered his face and reproached himself. With his good upbringing, yelling at others like this was extremely impolite.

A faint breathing sound came from above. Though quiet, it was clearly audible when Larry calmed down.

He shifted his hands in surprise, and his eyes met the figure above.

After silently staring at each other for a few seconds, Larry blushed and turned away.

"What are you doing here?"

It was the girl named Charlotte, the one he invited to join his team through a contract.

She was also the girl who had stolen his first kiss.

As they stared into each other's eyes, the girl's face flushed, but only for a moment. The rare shyness disappeared when she saw Larry's state.

"Heh," Charlotte let out a cold laugh, looking at Larry on the bed. "I came to see how our mighty contractor, who was so arrogant yesterday, is sighing and lamenting today."

"…" Larry heard her words clearly but remained silent. This attitude also annoyed the girl. She hasn't taken the initiative to talk to others much since she was young, and the first time she does so, she gets treated coldly?!

She immediately wanted to follow her temper and turn away, but just as she was about to turn around, she saw a moment of loneliness in Larry's eyes.

This is the kind of look that no one can understand and no one will show concern for.

Charlotte knew this all too well.

"Bam."

The door to the room was closed, and Larry grabbed the pillow in his chaotic thoughts, covering his head.

In his heart, it was as if he had been relieved when he brought the pillow back to cover his face again.

"Did she leave?"

"No."

As if seeing through Larry's thoughts, Charlotte, with her hands wrapped around her body, leaned on the edge of the bed and said softly.

"!?"

Larry suddenly sat up upon hearing her voice, holding the pillow and looking at her in amazement, "How are you still here?"

"…" Charlotte pursed her lips and sneered, "This is my home, and you are my contractor. Why can't I be here?"

Larry was left speechless by her words and irritably lay back down on the bed, "Suit yourself."

After that, he was silent.

He didn't know if it was because his heart was too big or if he was used to his previous life, but Larry gradually fell asleep lying on the bed.

Charlotte glanced at Larry, who was asleep on the bed, rolled her eyes in annoyance, then walked to the bookshelf in the room, picked up a book, and began quietly reading in a luxurious chair.

The two of them thus spent time in the same room quietly, as time slowly passed.

The sky outside the window gradually darkened, and a gentle breeze brushed against the flowers outside the window. The beautiful girl focused intently on her book, her black silk-covered legs under her short skirt crossed tantalizingly, and her dark red high-heels in subtle reflection were utterly mesmerizing to Larry, who had just awakened.

"Awake?"

The girl didn't even lift her head as she turned another page of her nearly finished book.

"…"

Larry was silent for a while. He didn't expect to fall asleep, let alone that Charlotte was still there.

Slowly sitting up, Larry asked doubtfully, "You… have been here the whole time?"

Now certain of his suspicions by spotting the book in her hand, Larry grew more confused.

"It's not a big deal. Reading all day is very normal for me, and it's a lot more interesting than meditation."

"If it's meditation, then indeed it is."

Reminded of the mages' hang-up skill in the game, Larry smiled.

Seeing a hint of a smile finally appear on Larry's face, Charlotte felt somewhat relieved, "Actually, it would be even better to go outside and have a look around."

Larry was no fool. How could he not understand Charlotte's insinuation?

He slightly shook his head, stood up, and declined Charlotte's suggestion, "I'd like to stay here quietly for a while…"

He slowly went over to the window, gazing at the beautiful scenery of the manor. The exquisite beauty of the manor made him feel uneasy.

Looking at Larry, a strange expression appeared in Charlotte's eyes. She then stood up, put the book back on the shelf and said,

"I'll come back tomorrow."

She then turned around and left the room, leaving Larry alone, silently staring out the window, lost in thought.
