Natalia Chan quickly turned around and saw an elderly man leaning on a cane. He had a long white beard and looked frail, as if he could be blown away by the wind at any moment.
"Master Malok...?" Natalia said, slightly surprised.
"Oh? You're just a commoner, how do you know my name?" the old man responded with a smile.
"Well... it's because you're famous, so..." Natalia stammered, feeling a bit nervous. He didn't want to say the wrong thing and risk being expelled by this seemingly friendly yet cunning old man.
As a commoner, Natalia knew he had to be careful with his words, just like the nobles did. He also knew that even those with status wouldn't dare to anger this frail old man standing before them.
"I see," Master Malok chuckled amiably. He then continued to walk ahead. Natalia hesitated for a moment but decided to follow along. The guards standing by exchanged glances and nodded at each other before resuming their posts. They knew that if anything went wrong, they could always use Master Malok's name to protect themselves. No harm would come to them.
Entering the noble district, Natalia looked around at the well-maintained flowers and trees. He couldn't help but sigh inwardly at the stark difference compared to the commoner district, not to mention the size, which was several times larger.
"Kid, can you tell me why you're here?" Master Malok asked, stroking his long beard with interest.
"Ah, it was Teacher Kino who called for me," Natalia replied honestly.
"Oh? That guy, huh? What did he want you for?" Master Malok asked, still stroking his beard.
"Well, he asked me to go to his office," Natalia answered honestly.
"You probably don't know where his office is, do you?" Master Malok asked, amusement evident in his voice.
"No," Natalia chuckled and nodded his head.
"Follow me, then. I'll take you there," Master Malok said.
"Ah? Are you sure about this, sir? Don't you have class this morning?" Natalia asked, puzzled.
Master Malok turned his head and looked at Natalia, stroking his beard thoughtfully. "How did you know I have class this morning?"
"Well, it's because my sister mentioned that your class was the first one in the morning," Natalia explained.
"Your sister?" Master Malok pondered for a moment before continuing, "Liya Gattun, right?"
Natalia's lips curled up into a smile. "Yes."
"From your expression, it seems like you're not surprised," Master Malok remarked.
"I actually find it strange if you couldn't figure it out," Natalia replied with a smile. "Just a simple deduction. From my appearance, you should know that I'm just an ordinary commoner. It's highly unlikely for a commoner like me to know a noble young lady. Or maybe I do know one, but the chance of that happening is extremely slim. So, excluding that possibility, the only option left is that she's also a commoner who happens to study in the noble district. And the only person who fits that description is Liya Gattun, my sister."
Master Malok nodded approvingly, looking at Natalia. "You truly are her brother. She mentioned it to me once, but I never expected you to be as clever as she described."
"Oh, did my sister talk about me?" Natalia asked.
"Yes," Master Malok said as he turned and walked ahead. "Follow me. I'll take you to Kino's office before class starts."
"Thank you, sir."
"Helping students is what teachers should do."
After walking for about ten minutes, a female voice sounded nearby.
"Master Malok!"
Natalia looked in the direction of the voice and saw Niawe running towards them, followed by her fellow noble classmates. Among them was Natalia's sister, Liya. However, Natalia noticed that the other students were standing in pairs or in groups, while Liya stood alone.
"Little Lo!" Liya exclaimed upon seeing her brother behind Master Malok. She hurried over to them. As she got closer, she noticed Natalia was holding a teacher's emblem."Mr. Malok, we've been waiting for you for so long. Why are you just arriving now?"
"I overslept." Malok replied calmly. Upon hearing this answer, Natalia nearly lost her composure. Their class had been waiting outside for almost an hour because of this.
Liya quickly grabbed Natalia Chan's shoulder and asked, "Xiao Luo, how did you end up here with a teacher's badge?"
"Well, it's because..."
"Liya, Natalia, you two go back first. I'll take this little kid to the office and then come over."
"Teacher, do you still need to go to the office?"
"I can't teach you without preparing teaching materials." After finishing his sentence, Mr. Malok turned and walked away. Natalia hesitated for a moment and said to her sister, "Sister, I'll explain everything to you when I get home. Right now, I have to go to the office."
"Alright, but you have to explain it to me properly when you get home, and remember not to provoke Mr. Malok."
"I know."
After saying that, Natalia quickly followed him, unaware that Natalia was looking at her with disdain. Liya, who was standing on the side, noticed Natalia's gaze but didn't say anything. In this noble area, it wasn't uncommon for nobles to look down on commoners, so she was used to it.
When they arrived at the office, Natalia found that there weren't many people inside. Each teacher's desk had a pile of white papers, which she quickly glanced at and realized they were the test papers that Kino, their teacher, had given them to do that morning.
Mr. Malok noticed Natalia's gaze and chuckled softly. "Don't peek at the test papers. It's not a good habit."
"I'm sorry, Mr. Malok. I'll pay attention next time." Natalia quickly apologized. After all, it was not right to peek at the test papers.
"It's alright. You will know what you need to know, and what you don't know, you won't know." Mr. Malok laughed, his hand stroking his beard. To be honest, it was hard for Natalia to imagine him as the malicious person her classmates had described.
Mr. Malok walked to an empty desk and said to Natalia, "This is Kino's seat. Just wait here for him."
"Yes."
"Hmm? Strange, where did the test paper given to him go?"
"Kino took the test paper. He used that paper for the quiz during the first class this morning."
"So, you've already done it?"
"Yes." Natalia nodded.
Mr. Malok furrowed his brow in confusion. "The exam time is one class period, and the first class hasn't ended yet. So, you turned in your paper early, right?"
"Yes."
"Then, you've finished the last question as well?"
"I have." Natalia replied calmly. If it weren't for the limited space to fill in the answers, he might have taken more time to write down more answers.
Mr. Malok squinted his eyes and asked with a smile, "Can you tell me how many different answers you wrote for the last question?"
