Private Detective Agency.
The sound of a pair of shiny high heels echoed on the worn-out stairs. The girl with long legs wrapped tightly in black stockings walked gracefully, captivating the man who accompanied her. They stopped in front of an old wooden door. The girl adjusted her collar and dress, straightened her glasses, and was about to knock on the door when a deep voice came from inside.
"Don't dawdle, come in."
The girl was taken aback and then pushed open the slightly ajar door. In front of her was a full-length mirror, reflecting her silver hair styled in a ponytail, her sapphire blue eyes framed by semi-rimmed glasses, and her translucent fair skin matched with a dark lady's suit, creating a striking visual contrast.
"You didn't even wear contact lenses this time. You look very formal." The man stood up from his seat, tidied up the messy books on the table, and moved a chair to face him. "But, you're still not suitable to wear such mature clothes. Schade."
Schade Dackness, the deputy chairperson of the current Exorcist Association, was only seventeen years old but already held a high position. Unlike other executives, Schade liked to do fieldwork, like visiting this cold-hearted man, which was her current job.
"Minamoto Heart, please understand your position! Do you know who we are facing now?" Schade straightened her still-developing chest and pointed angrily at the indifferent man named Minamoto Heart.
"I forgot you're at work now." Minamoto Heart walked up to Schade and half knelt in front of her, gently lifting her hand, kissing the back of it, and then standing up to look at the girl who was a head shorter than him. "Please forgive my mistake, Vice Chairperson Schade."
Schade had received many hand kisses from Exorcists, but when facing Minamoto Heart, she always showed a flustered expression. Fortunately, before Minamoto Heart stood up, she had already regained her composure.
"Vice Chairperson, your heartbeat just quickened. Is there something wrong?" Minamoto Heart said calmly, even though he sounded a little absent-minded, his pitch-black eyes showed absolute seriousness.
"Your observation skills are still as sharp as ever." Schade sighed.
"This ability can help you; I feel honored." Minamoto Heart narrowed his eyes and slowly spoke, "So, what happened?"
Schade nodded to the man accompanying her, and he placed the black document box he was holding on the table. After opening the box, the contents, two photos and two files, appeared in front of Minamoto Heart's eyes.
"What is this?" Minamoto Heart frowned slightly when he saw the contents of the photos, showing two dead bodies, one with a broken neck and the other with a pierced heart.
"They died without finding peace, and both of them had fearful and incredulous expressions." Minamoto Heart noticed that the bodies of the two people were lying on a smooth floor, without a drop of blood nearby, obviously moved there by someone.
"The deceased are Kane and Nooby, both registered Exorcists of the Association. Their profession is Offence, and they are A-Class Exorcists. Their bodies have been recovered, and preliminary investigations show that they were killed with a single blow." Schade explained seriously, pushing the two files beside the photos towards Minamoto Heart.
"They were remarkable individuals. Are you sure they were killed with one blow?" Minamoto Heart skimmed through the files that recorded the ranks and rankings of the two people. They were among the best in A-Class Exorcists. It was inconceivable that they could be killed so easily.
Schade nodded solemnly, and Minamoto Heart realized the seriousness of the problem. "What kind of monster did they encounter?"
"No, they seem to have been killed by humans. Judging from the wounds, it seems to have been a dagger-like weapon. The Association has already investigated all the monsters who use daggers, but their strength is not enough to kill those two people so easily." Schade stared intensely at Minamoto Heart, seeming to have something to say that she didn't utter."Do you want me to investigate this?" Minamoto Heart quickly saw through Schade's gaze, or rather, this was the purpose of her trip.
"Yes, I can't think of a more suitable candidate than you," Schade nodded and said, her gaze exuding an irresistible authority, not the kind of gaze a girl her age should have.
"What about the other members of the guild?" Minamoto Heart sat down, unwillingly pushing back.
"As you know, there isn't even an A-ranked Searcher in the Exorcist Guild. Facing an opponent who can kill two A-ranked Exorcists with a single blow, no one dares to take the risk," Schade said helplessly.
"That's your guild's problem, Schade. I'm not a member of the guild," Minamoto Heart lit a cigarette and, after exhaling a puff of smoke, said lightly. Although the words from his mouth sounded like a refusal, Schade could see through the smoke his passionate eyes, the eyes longing to fight strong opponents.
Minamoto Heart, twenty-five years old. Ranked tenth on the Exorcist Hero List, an S-rank Exorcist specializing in Searcher and Offense, the most representative lone ranger in the demon-slaying world. She investigates monsters herself and solves them herself. Currently, she is a detective at a private detective agency in the mortal realm, not a member of the bustling Exorcist Guild.
"I know," Schade sat across from Minamoto Heart, crossing her black-stockinged legs, and said, "I'm not making this request in the name of the guild. Detective Yuan?"
"Heh," Minamoto Heart's mouth slightly curved up, after extinguishing the cigarette in the ashtray, he asked with his arms crossed, "Where did it happen?"
"Mingshui Town, not far from here," Schade smiled satisfiedly and snapped her fingers. The man accompanying her placed another box on the table and opened it, revealing that it was filled with money.
Minamoto Heart didn't take the money. He stood up and walked towards the door, took the sword hanging on the door, and turned to Schade, "Since it's been a while since we last met, I won't take your money this time. But you need to correct how you addressed me earlier."
Schade was puzzled but cautiously said, "Yuan... senior?"
"Hmph!"
Minamoto Heart pushed open the door and walked out, followed by the sound of the door being closed heavily.
............
As the saying goes, with a gold pot on your back, traveling through thousands of mountains and rivers is not difficult. For White Goodson's current situation, earning money quickly was a very important matter, but there was an even more important problem in front of him now.
"How should I handle this?"
"Well... how should I handle this?"
The White siblings sighed at the same time, and then another bitter argument ensued.
"Don't sigh with me, come over here and think of a solution together!" White Goodson shouted at his sister.
"No! It's Big Brother Idiot who caused the trouble, you go solve it yourself!" White Rosa refused and continued browsing online.
Bickering between the two was a common occurrence, although White Goodson lost his dignity as an older brother yesterday, there was no other choice. Since he agreed to accompany White Rosa to sleep last night, early in the morning White Goodson took the opportunity to make a deal with his sister, clearing yesterday's incident, and the two returned to their usual state.
"That White Amaterasu is definitely a loser without any capabilities in real life, don't imagine things!" White Goodson's anger even extended to himself, but White Rosa didn't care. After being told by White Goodson, she was even more convinced that the user's address was from their own home, there must have been a mistake somewhere.
"Don't you dare speak ill of Amaterasu, Bro Useless is much worse than him!" White Rosa paused for a moment, then said viciously, "He's clearly a virgin, yet he's so arrogant!""Uh..." White Goodson was nearly choked by the air, but he couldn't muster the strength to argue back.
"Maybe there are still some porn magazines hidden somewhere, but I just haven't found them yet."
"No... I really don't have any porn magazines. I don't have the money to buy them..." White Goodson's voice trailed off halfway, but it was still heard by White Rosa.
"Disgusting!" With a disgusted expression that seemed to say "Do you really have the intention to buy them?", White Rosa looked at White Goodson and pushed her chair a little further away, seemingly even more repulsed by him.
"No, no, no, let's put this topic on hold for now. We need to solve an important problem!" White Goodson decisively changed the subject. Every argument between the siblings would usually end with White Goodson forcibly changing the topic, signifying his defeat in the battle. By the way, it should be noted that White Goodson has yet to win a single round.
"Ugh, so annoying. It's trouble that he brought upon himself." White Rosa walked away from the computer with a displeased expression and sat across from White Goodson.
"Don't call her trouble. Can you at least show a little respect to her?" White Goodson sighed helplessly, and their gazes shifted towards the dragon girl still sleeping.
"Where should we send her?" White Rosa asked.
"I don't know... Is there any way we can send her back to the other world?" White Goodson fell into deep thought.
"How about bribing the messenger of the teleportation gate?" With a slender finger resting on her chin, White Rosa pondered and suggested.
"You know about that teleportation gate!?" White Goodson showed a surprised expression and a face of the elven girl Eirene flashed in his mind.
---If we bribe that guy, I guess he may want something more than just money... But, I wonder if she's doing okay now?
"You know about it too?" White Rosa asked with narrowed eyes, suspecting that something was fishy.
"Huh? Well, um... the head of our multilevel marketing organization mentioned it to me once." White Goodson was startled by his sister's sudden counter-question and hastily came up with a random excuse, fearing that his adventure in the other world would be exposed. Currently, the acquaintances only know that White Goodson "joined a multilevel marketing organization," so he absolutely couldn't let them know about his trip to the other world, especially not White Rosa. White Goodson decided to keep up the act and, since his sister didn't know that his online gaming ID was "White Amaterasu," he simply made up a reason before his sister could bring up the matter.
Things were unfolding according to a route that satisfied both of them. White Rosa found the address of "White Amaterasu" but didn't mention it, firmly believing that something had gone wrong there. As for White Goodson, he was unaware that his address had been found and worried about his sister's suspicions. So, before his sister could mention the matter, he distanced himself from anything related to "White Amaterasu," even going so far as to delete his online gaming account.
One was unwilling to believe, and the other was afraid of being discovered.
