"Where did you rescue her from?"
Sister Luxe looked at the girl lying unconscious on the bed. With her sharp eyesight, she could naturally tell that the girl was not an ordinary person, especially after she had just washed the girl's clothes. They were made of extremely expensive silk and crafted with high precision. The value of that outfit alone would be considerable.
"By the riverside where we usually graze the animals. She was entangled in water plants. I thought it was some kind of wild beast at first."
"Did she have anything on her when you found her?"
"Not that I recall..."
"I didn't pay much attention back then."
Bexia scratched his nose. At the time, he was only focused on saving the girl, and he didn't care about anything else.
"What's wrong, Sister Luxe?"
"Nothing, just asking casually."
Sister Luxe looked at the girl lying on the bed for a while. When she was cleaning the girl's clothes, she noticed a mark on them. She had a feeling that she had seen it before but couldn't remember. So, she came to ask Bexia about it.
"Bexia, don't do anything bad at night! I know teenagers like you are always impulsive, but try not to do anything bad, okay?"
Sister Luxe teased him again, and Bexia rolled his eyes. Did she really think he was that kind of person?
But he didn't argue with Sister Luxe because he knew it would only end in his defeat. Plus, being teased by her wouldn't cause him any harm, so it was best to pretend he didn't hear it.
"Bexia, you're not as cute as you were when you were young!" Seeing Bexia's reaction, Sister Luxe pouted and left the room, not forgetting to tell him before she went, "If there's any problem, remember to wake me up at night!"
"I know!"
Although Sister Luxe liked to joke around, she was genuinely a good person. Apart from Bexia, she took care of seven or eight other orphans in the church.
Bexia sat at the table, leaning his head on his hand, bored, and looked at the girl on the bed. She seemed a few years older than him, with chestnut-colored long hair that Sister Luxe had tidied up, revealing the girl's naturally delicate and beautiful face.
Bexia stared at her absentmindedly. He didn't know why, but he always felt that he had been involved with many women before, but he couldn't remember anything about it. Other than his memories of living in the village these years, he couldn't recall anything else.
Maybe his mind was really broken!
Stretching his body, Bexia blew out the oil lamp on the table and lay on his bed, daydreaming. Before he knew it, he fell asleep.
Bexia's consciousness was a little hazy, but he became suddenly alert when he saw the giant monster. He threw the silver book in his hand aside, allowing it to create a protective shield around him, while his hands gripped his battle blade tightly and swung it fiercely at the incoming beast.
"Shattering Judgment!"
The battle blade's swing stirred countless amounts of water around it, but at the moment of collision with the monster, Bexia felt like his whole body was breaking, as if every part of him was filled with agonizing pain. The incredibly sturdy battle blade shattered into several pieces and fell into the depths of the sea from his hands.
But the power of the monster was not limited to that. After the battle blade broke, Bexia's shield also shattered, along with the silver book that formed the shield, and the giant gemstones embedded on it shattered into countless dots of light.
"Chaotic Authority!"
Feeling his life being threatened, Bexia activated the power of his divinity. The Divinity Laurel enveloped him, and thirteen divine gemstones orbited around him, forming a new protective shield.
"Roar!"
The monster suddenly paused, struggling evident in its yet-to-be blood-red eyes. Seizing this opportunity, Bexia immediately rushed towards the glowing dots below, but he was met with a loud booming sound from behind. His last conscious vision was of a giant fish tail swiping towards him, sending him into endless darkness.
The Divinity Laurel was full of cracks, and all thirteen divine gemstones disappeared into the sea of reincarnation. Only a figure slowly descended to the bottom of the sea of reincarnation, swallowed by a faint glimmer!"Hmm--!"
"Why do I keep having these strange dreams recently?" Bexia rubbed his head and sat up from the bed. He glanced at the window and saw that it was just getting light outside.
"You're still not awake?"
Bexia got up and checked the girl sleeping in the bed next to him. Her complexion seemed healthier than before, and her breathing was steady. She should be fine!
He went to the water well in the courtyard to fetch water and freshen up. When he returned to the room, he saw that the girl had already sat up. As soon as she saw him coming in, she immediately hid her body back under the covers, after all, she was only wearing her underwear now.
"You're awake?"
Bexia placed the basin of water on the table and greeted the girl with a smile.
"Did you save me?"
The girl looked at Bexia appraisingly.
"I don't have that kind of ability. It was Sister Laxi who saved you. I just found you by the river and brought you back."
"Thank you for saving me..." The girl hesitated for a moment and blushed slightly as she asked, "My clothes..."
"Sister Laxi said they would hinder the treatment, so she asked me to take them off. They're currently drying outside. If you need them, I can bring them to you."
"You...you took them off for me..."
"Don't misunderstand. Because of the urgency of the situation, I took off your outer clothes without your consent. But I didn't do anything else."
Seeing that the girl seemed to have misunderstood something, Bexia immediately explained. He didn't want to be seen as a "pervert"!
"Phew--!"
The girl breathed a sigh of relief after hearing Bexia's words.
"Thank you for saving me. My name is Ophelia."
"Just call me Bexia."
"Cough, cough--!"
The girl suddenly started coughing violently, seeming to aggravate the injuries on her body. She had a look of discomfort on her face.
"You rest for now, I'll go get Sister Laxi."
"You must be Sister Laxi! Thank you for saving me."
Ophelia wanted to get up and express her gratitude, but she was stopped by Sister Laxi. The nun pushed up her glasses and glanced at the blood-stained bandages, furrowing her brows.
"You better lie down and rest properly. Such serious injuries are prone to infection, and it would be troublesome if it happens. I don't have any special medication here either."
"I'm sorry for causing you trouble."
"This is my duty as a nun."
"I'll change your bandages first, and then I'll bring you some food. You must be hungry!"
"Thank you, Sister Laxi!"
Ophelia didn't make a fuss. Her current condition was very bad, and if she wanted to express her gratitude, she would have to wait until she recovered from her injuries.
Bexia immediately left the room and soon arrived with Sister Laxi. To avoid any awkwardness, Bexia voluntarily left the room and prepared some food in the kitchen, starting another day of herding work.
