"Hey! Wake up."

"Even though it's a rest day, we can't sleep in. Don't forget we have a mission to accept today!"

Carter stood by the bed and grabbed the blanket, revealing Bexia curled up inside.

"Ugh~!"

"What time is it? It's supposed to be a rest day, why are you waking up so early?" Bexia complained, grabbing the blanket and wrapping himself up again. He wasn't lazy, but he had a big issue with waking up early, especially since sharing a room with Carter.

His wake up time wasn't even considered late, but Carter would wake up before dawn, just like one of the nuns from the church.

"You said you wanted to go on adventures with me. If we don't go early, all the good missions will be taken!"

"Fine... I get it..." Bexia reluctantly sat up in bed, unwillingly getting up to wash and get ready.

It had been two days since the whole school was in an uproar about the "childbirth" incident with Long Mo Mo. After that, Long Mo Mo had admitted it was just a joke, so the matter was considered settled. However, there were still rumors circulating about their relationship not being pure, but Bexia didn't care much about it.

A person with a brain wouldn't believe such rumors, right? Rumors stop at the wise!

Today was the first day of their weekly rest day, which was the second to last day of the week. These two days were considered rest days, and their plans for today had already been arranged - to try out the life of adventurers.

It all started two days ago when Bexia and Carter mentioned that they wanted to find jobs. Carter then told him about becoming adventurers, something Bexia never thought of. However, he actually became a "wooden badge" adventurer.

According to the information Bexia knew, adventurers were at least of the lower rank, but Carter treated them like "monsters" and told him that those were old regulations from a long time ago. Nowadays, even ordinary people could apply to become adventurers.

The appearance of adventurers below the black iron rank was a reform that happened more than thirty years ago for local small guilds. These guilds often had very ordinary tasks that were too simple for proper adventurers, even regular people wouldn't find them difficult. And with the lack of rewards, these tasks were often left aside for a long time. However, once accumulated, it became a problem. They couldn't refuse these tasks, but they couldn't be taken by proper adventurers either. That's how the wooden badge adventurers came to be.

Wooden badge adventurers were not part of the regular adventurer ranks and didn't have universal status, but they could accept tasks from the adventurer guild. Especially those tedious normal tasks, for proper adventurers, the rewards weren't high, but for regular people, they were decent. So over time, wooden badge adventurers became a new level.

More precisely, wooden badge adventurers weren't a profession, but a trade. As long as there was a reward, they would do almost anything - from gathering to hunting regular beasts, or helping people find things, and even cleaning.

At the same time, wooden badge adventurers couldn't be promoted. They didn't gain adventurer points and couldn't accept tasks with rank requirements. However, there were no restrictions, and as long as they filled a simple information form and paid twenty copper coins, they could receive a "wooden badge" and become a "glorious" wooden badge adventurer.

Yesterday afternoon, with Carter's guidance, Bexia went to the adventurer guild in Asmaan Imperial Capital to apply for his adventurer identity. Compared to his student status, a regular job would have no time to work, so becoming an adventurer was a good choice. There were no restrictions either, anyone with time could come here and accept tasks.

Carter dragged Bexia to the adventurer guild. It was still very early, but there were already quite a few people inside. If they came later, there would be even more.

Because it was a rest day, neither of them wore their gray school uniforms. Carter was wearing a sleeveless black swordsman outfit, while Bexia was wearing one of the several sets of clothes that Ophelia had bought for him - a light blue shirt and long pants."We're going to the announcement board to find a mission," said Carter. Despite not having the magical abilities of higher-ranked adventurers, he had been working as a wooden badge level adventurer for several years and was quite familiar with the situation.

At least compared to Bexia!

The announcement board was a large wooden plaque where various missions were posted. Most of the adventurer guild's missions were posted there, and if they wanted to accept a mission, adventurers could simply tear off the announcement and register at the counter.

Missions were also graded, from the lowest D rank to the highest S rank. In terms of the most common hunting missions, they corresponded to the levels of inferior, intermediate, superior, extreme, and crown power. As the lowest-ranked wooden badge level, they could only accept missions with no level designation.

Bexia looked up at the tasks posted on the announcement board. There were announcements everywhere, and she could roughly see many D and C rank markings, indicating D and C level missions. There were also quite a few missions without a level designation, but none of them caught her interest.

After all, this was her first adventurer mission, and Bexia didn't want to take on a mission that had no sense of adventure. Otherwise, what was the point of being an adventurer?

"I found a good mission!" Carter suddenly exclaimed.

"Help me out!" He patted Bexia's shoulder, and the two exchanged a glance. Bexia knew what he meant and extended her hands in front of her, making a lifting motion. Carter stepped on them and accurately tore off a mission announcement from the high billboard!

"What mission is it?" Bexia asked.

"Take a look for yourself! This mission is pretty good, and the reward is high!"

Bexia took the mission announcement, which described the task:

Investigation Mission: Strange sounds can always be heard at night in the Krom Graveyard, greatly unsettling the people in nearby villages. They hope someone can find the source of these strange sounds!

Mission Reward: Two gold coins!

Mission Requirement: Need to use a recording crystal to record the origin of the strange sounds.

Mission Note: Undead creatures may appear in the Krom Graveyard!

"What are undead creatures?" Bexia asked Carter after reading the information.

"Undead creatures are a collective term for undead beings. But don't worry, Bexia. There won't be any high-level undead in the Krom Graveyard. Those guys may look scary, but as long as you overcome your fear, even ordinary farmers can handle several low-level undead!"

"So, should we accept this mission?"

"Of course! This is a rare and good mission, and the reward is so high!"
