The Crom Graveyard is located near the imperial capital Asman, and it is a very famous place. The tomb of the ancient elven hero Crom was once found here, so it was named Crom Graveyard.
According to the story told by Carter, the tomb of the elven hero Crom was discovered over two hundred years ago. At that time, it attracted a large number of adventurers who ventured into it and found many precious magical manuscripts and other magical items.
However, because many people entered the tomb, it was completely emptied. Even the bodies buried inside were reportedly stolen by thieves. Now, it is just an ordinary underground cave, and there is no trace of the tomb at all.
Bexia frowned when she heard the story of the Crom Tomb. She felt that this kind of thing was really excessive. It was bad enough to dig someone's grave and take their treasures, but stealing the bodies was too much.
But she had no right to judge what had happened in the past. What's the use of thinking about those things when they had already happened?
The predecessor of the Crom Graveyard was a burial ground for a large number of rebels. It was because of the large number of bodies buried here that Crom's tomb was discovered.
Carter and Bexia spent more than an hour walking to the Crom Graveyard. The land here was black, and even though the sky was clear, there was a sinister feeling standing on this land.
"Now what do we do?" Bexia looked at the many dilapidated tombstones, wooden signs, and stakes around her. These were all evidence of buried bodies. The area was not small, and she didn't know how to begin the mission.
"The villagers who issued the mission said that they would hear horrifying noises coming from the graveyard at night. But because they were scared, no one dared to come to check it out. So the best way now is to wait until night!" Carter looked at the mission information in his hand. It was given to them when they accepted the mission from the Adventurer's Guild, and it was an essential instruction for the task.
"Are we just going to idle away our time now? It would be better to look around. Maybe we can find some clues!" Bexia suggested.
"Alright, let's familiarize ourselves with the surroundings first!" Carter nodded. It was still early, so it was a good opportunity to explore the area.
"Do you think it could be deliberate?" Bexia walked slowly, rubbing the back of her head.
"I don't rule out that possibility, but why would someone do such a thing?" Carter pondered, rubbing his chin.
"Do you think there are valuable things in the Crom Graveyard?" Bexia's eyes lit up. If it was indeed intentional, it must be for some kind of benefit. So what valuable things could be found in the Crom Graveyard?
"The Crom Graveyard is just a graveyard. Even the tomb of the elven hero Crom has been explored thoroughly. What else could be valuable here?" Carter asked.
"Wait..." Bexia seemed to realize something. "Do you think there might be something in Crom's tomb that hasn't been discovered before, like a hidden chamber or something?"
"It's possible. Let's go directly to Crom's tomb and take a look!" Carter also thought there was a possibility. Although it was low, if there really was an undiscovered hidden chamber or mechanism, it would be a major discovery. Who knows, they might even find some treasures?
"You lead the way, and let's go to the tomb!" Bexia casually suggested, but she didn't have much hope. After all, countless people had already visited there. Would they be lucky enough to stumble upon something?"Then why don't we go down and see for ourselves?"
Carter took a step forward and jumped into the cave. Bexia immediately followed suit, both of them examining the pathway ahead, which led to the tomb.
"Have you been here before, Carter?"
"No! But I've heard a lot of adventurers talk about this place." With these words, Carter drew his sword and cast a life magic for illumination:
"Sunlight Spell!"
This was a very basic life magic that could be cast by anyone with a one-star strength. The academy instructors had taught it in previous magic courses, and Bexia knew it too.
Carter's sword transformed into a golden hue, illuminating the darkness around them. Bexia summoned Klyssia, who served as a magical light blade weapon, providing her own source of illumination.
"Every time I see your weapon, I feel it's so unfair. If I had a weapon like that for my entrance test, I guarantee I would've wiped out all four Black Iron Beetles!" Carter looked enviously at Klyssia in Bexia's hands. However, despite his envy, Carter wasn't jealous of Bexia's good luck. Such a weapon couldn't be wielded by just anyone.
"You're amazing, leave it at that!"
"That's for sure. I'm the man who will obtain the title of Adventurer King!"
"Let's talk about it after you actually obtain it..." Bexia suddenly felt an uncomfortable sensation ahead and furrowed her brow.
"What's wrong?"
"Be careful, I feel like there's something up ahead."
"Something?!"
Carter kicked a piece of stone in front of him, and several magic circles suddenly appeared on the path ahead, with five or six undead skeletons standing inside, each wielding old and decrepit longswords. As soon as they saw Bexia and Carter, they immediately charged towards them.
Undead creatures naturally despised the living and would attack as soon as they saw them.
"They're undead!"
"You take the left, I'll take the right!"
Carter signaled to Bexia with a look, his face expressionless, and charged forward with his sword. Bexia followed immediately. Although this was their first encounter with undead creatures, they felt no fear!
As long as they overcame their fear, these low-level undead skeletons posed little threat. After all, they were just fragile skeletons with worn-out weapons. How much damage could they possibly inflict?
