Twenty-Five: The Death Summoner

"It's obvious that there's magic summoning going on, there must be someone inside."

"Do summoners summon skeletons too?" Bexia asked in confusion.

"Of course they do! Although I've never seen it myself, I've heard about death mage summoners who can summon various undead creatures. Maybe there's a death summoner hidden inside!"

"A death summoner?! That's such an evil profession! Should we still go in?" Bexia felt that dealing with corpses was dangerous and wicked.

"It's alright! Death summoners are not like untamed beasts. There's even a festival called the Festival of Spirits on the continent that specifically commemorates death summoners."

"And besides, a profession doesn't determine good or bad, it's the person that matters most."

"You're right!" Bexia agreed with Carte's words. Power itself is neutral, it's the way it's used that determines its nature.

"But we still need to be careful. If there's any danger, we'll run immediately!"

"Yes!" Carte nodded in agreement.

The two continued forward and after a few minutes, they arrived at an underground plaza. It was the size of a football field and was empty, except for a black figure standing in the center.

"Who are you?" The figure had their back turned to them and due to the dim lighting in the dungeon, they couldn't see the person clearly. It was only when the figure stood up that they realized.

"Run!"

Bexia's immediate reaction was to turn and flee because that was not a person at all. It was a giant undead, or more specifically, a middle-tier undead known as an Undead Knight.

"Hurry, Carte!" Bexia called out, but to her surprise, Carte, who was originally in front, was trembling and moving backwards as if there was something terrifying ahead.

"How did this happen!?" Bexia also saw Carte's terrified target in the next second. It was another Undead Knight, identical to the one behind them. The massive three-meter tall body was slowly approaching them, and its enormous blade gleamed with a chilling light in the darkness!

"What should we do?" Carte started to panic, but Bexia's mind was strangely calm. Even though she knew it was dangerous, she didn't panic at all. In fact, she felt an impulse to rush into battle, just like when she faced the Black Iron Beetle last time!

"Other than fighting, we have no other choice!" Bexia took the lead and thrust her spear forward.

"Blade of Light Flash!"

The blade in her hand streaked across the night like a shooting star, aiming straight for the Undead Knight. However, the knight easily blocked it with its shield, and at the same time, its massive sword swung down without hesitation.

"Bang!"

The sword was blunt, but its tremendous destructive force was jaw-dropping. It created a deep pit in the ground, but Bexia agilely jumped to the side, using the power of the cave wall to propel herself high up, and fiercely smashed her blade towards the ugly head of the Undead Knight.

Although Bexia had not been in combat for long, her natural fighting instincts surprised Ophelia. This innate ability couldn't be learned. During battle, she remained calm, and her thinking and body were extremely coordinated. In the words of Long Mo Mo, she was simply a born warrior!

However, the Undead Knight was not weak either. It belonged to the middle-tier of the undead. If they were of the same level, perhaps Bexia could easily defeat it. But levels represent the division of power, and the difference couldn't be easily bridged with combat instincts alone.

"Ding!"

The heavy sword and the blade clashed, and Bexia was swept away by the immense power, crashing heavily into Carte. Both of them left a several-meter-long trail on the ground.

"Why am I so unlucky? Can't even lie down without being attacked!" Carte complained, pushing Bexia off himself.

"You dare say that? You didn't even help!" Bexia immediately got up from the ground. Thanks to Carte's cushion, she wasn't injured, but the arm holding the blade tingled from the impact. The power of the Undead Knight was far beyond hers."Why bother going up if we can't beat them?"

"It's still better than waiting to die, isn't it?" Bexia retorted. Was it really a good idea to give up like this?

"Did you not notice something?" Carter suddenly whispered into his ear.

"There's someone watching us over there."

"Attack!" Carter suddenly shouted loudly. Although Bexia didn't quite understand, he followed suit and they both quickly moved past the undead knights, heading towards the corner that Carter had mentioned. Their weapons, the battle blade and the straight sword, were both pointed at that corner.

"There really is someone..." After getting closer, helped by the light of the battle blade, Bexia could indeed see a black-robed figure hiding here. However, the person's reaction made him stop in his tracks.

"I surrender!!"

A young voice sounded from beneath the black robe. On the other side, Carter also stopped his sword. The two of them were holding their weapons mere inches away from the black-robed figure, ready to take each other's lives at any moment.

"Don't attack me, I surrender!" The black-robed person took off their cloak, revealing a young and innocent face that astonished both Bexia and Carter. Two long silver ponytails dragged on the floor behind her. It was unimaginable for them that the person hidden behind this scene was actually just a little girl, probably only slightly older than ten!

"You bullies! Wahhh!" What surprised them even more was that upon looking at the two of them, the girl suddenly burst into tears. Her cries echoed throughout the underground space, and the two imposing undead knights were left dumbfounded, standing still in their original positions.

"What... what should we do...?" Carter helplessly scratched his head. He had never encountered such a situation before.

"Let me try to comfort her!" Bexia awkwardly touched his nose. He didn't expect to scare such a young girl to tears. He had encountered similar situations several times in the church, and they were quite troublesome.

"Little one, please stop crying. We didn't mean any harm."

Bexia reached out and wiped her tears, which calmed her down slightly, though there were still intermittent sobs. The girl looked at Bexia with her big eyes and said something that made him want to vomit blood.

"Sister, why are you wearing boys' clothes?"

"Sis... Sister, hahaha... This is hilarious! Bexia, she... she called you sister! Hahaha!" Carter covered his stomach and laughed so hard that his face almost cramped. Bexia raised his hand and punched him, uttering one word:

"Go!"
