Act 27: Stop! This is not the Mountain Giant at all!
update icon Updated at 2023/8/3 7:10:12

The forest fire caused by the eruption of Chi gradually spread and soon reached the body of the mountain giant. However, this level of flame did minimal damage to it. Instead, it forced the mercenaries who were attempting to engage in close combat to retreat a distance due to the heat.

But the flames burning on its body angered this massive creature. Despite not having a mouth, a deep and loud roar came from deep within its rocky body.

"Be careful! It's going to counterattack! Watch out for the shockwave!"

As the leader, Robert was the first to notice that the mountain giant lifted one of its feet, casting a huge shadow on the ground, and roared to convey the message to its surrounding companions.

Two mercenaries holding gigantic tower shields immediately protected the relatively vulnerable archers and retreated to a safe distance for attack. The others also scattered and dodged around.

"Hey, Robert!"

Only one mercenary carrying a shield and axe shouted and charged towards the mountain giant, his weapon covered in a layer of crimson light, preparing to power up.

Robert hesitated for half a second but immediately understood what the mercenary meant. He let out a roar and charged forward with both hands gripping the warhammer.

The priest on the hillside also timely waved sacred tree branches to cast reinforcement spells, and a shimmering white light circulated on the weapons of the two. The sharpness of their weapons increased to another level.

Their target was the ankle, the only support point for the mountain giant's body right now!

"Attack!!"

Robert's Chi was fully ignited. His rare thunder attribute Chi completely sparked and transformed into substantial blue-purple electric snakes. Under the stimulation of electricity, his muscles bulged, and the large hammer held explosive thunder energy.

Bursting Thunder Hammer!

The terrifying blow on the mountain giant's ankle did not achieve the expected effect. Its body was even sturdier than imagined. Robert only left a pit with a diameter of less than one meter, which was nothing compared to its mountain-like size.

Then came another strike from the mercenaries, slightly weaker than Robert's Thunder Hammer. However, the combined attack of two consecutive people finally affected the balance of the mountain giant's body, preventing it from trampling on the heads of the dodging mercenaries as intended.

The shockwave caused by this kick extinguished the flames burning on the mountain giant's body completely.

"This is a good opportunity! Resume the attack and take down this big guy!"

Losing balance briefly left the mountain giant in an unprotected state. Coupled with the extinguished flames, the mercenaries immediately unleashed their excellent tradition of swarming and began to relentlessly destroy the monster.

The protected archers also started to unleash their full firepower. Although they were much more fragile compared to the warriors, their output capacity surpassed the warriors by far. With the blessing of the priest's piercing and exploding dual spells, every arrow brought about flying debris and rubble.

With this fighting style, even a mountain would eventually be leveled by these dozen or so formidable warriors.

But the mountain giant was not a mountain; it was a legendary-level siege beast.

To it, the tiny humans were nothing more than insects. Even the formidable mercenaries were just slightly stronger insects. It was like squashing bugs, how difficult could it be?

It began to spin.

Yes, it started to spin rapidly on one foot as its axis!

At the moment the mountain giant started moving, the mercenaries on its body were dumbfounded. What kind of move was this?

...

"Is this... Blade Storm?"

Aya widened her eyes. The movement of the mountain giant resembled the ultimate move of a legendary swordsman, and even the wind pressure generated by its huge body's rotation caused pain on her face even from a distance.

The three mages who were still casting and charging had set up protective barriers in advance, creating a windless area inside.

"I'm not sure if it's Blade Storm, but it seems like Robert and the others are in trouble."

...

"Damn, I almost got smashed into pieces! I actually survived this!"

After rolling on the ground for over ten meters and breaking three trees, Robert finally came to a stop. Looking around, he saw broken trees and upturned soil everywhere. The sudden rotation of the mountain giant had thrown everyone on its body off, accompanied by numerous shattered rocks. Even Robert himself was nearly hit.

Although he had Chi protecting him and the body strength of an advanced knight, the series of impacts, shocks, and rolls still made Robert uncomfortable. His insides were burning, and he felt nauseous, as if he wanted to vomit. All the other companions had no idea where they were thrown into the forest. Even if they were still safe and sound, their fighting power was probably greatly reduced.

The archers were still shooting, but after the effect of the spell wore off, Chi arrows alone were not enough to inflict significant damage.

Dodging the trees and rocks thrown by the mountain giant, Robert ran towards the slope at the back while enduring his pain. After fighting for so long and still not being able to cause any effective damage, it was clear that these city-level behemoths were not to be trifled with.

"At least it's done..." Robert sighed of relief as he glanced at the mages on the slope who had been reading the incantations for half the time while he gracefully maneuvered through the forest, avoiding obstacles.

On the slope, three magic users had united to create a giant magical cannon using the magic circuit. It was almost ready for use.

When it came to one-on-one battles, knight and warrior professions were at a disadvantage against mages. However, in terms of attack power, the impact of a single powerful magic spell was far beyond what these melee fighters could achieve.

Feeling the immense threat from the mountain slope, the mountain giant momentarily abandoned the mercenaries fleeing in the forest and slowly turned its massive body to face the slope.

Robert fired a red signal flare towards the side of the slope from his belt. This was a command to retreat immediately in order to ensure the maximum range of the magical cannon's attack. He didn't want to be caught in the blast, so it was safer to run.

Yes, the farther, the better.

The priest recited the incantation and applied a blue buff to the three mages... I mean, a spell enhancement, to make the energy fluctuation of the magical cannon more powerful, like an overflowing cup of water.

Once Robert confirmed that everyone had safely stayed out of the range of the magical cannon, he fired a green signal flare. After reading the instruction for a full ten minutes, the giant magical cannon finally fired.

A bright and thick beam of light erupted from the mouth of the magical cannon created by the magic circuit and accurately hit the mountain giant facing the slope!

The blast radius of the magical cannon was about twenty meters, enough to obliterate even a mountain giant.

However, such a powerful magical cannon inevitably had side effects...

"My eyes!! My eyes are blind!" Aya rolled on the ground, covering her titanium alloy dog eyes, tears streaming down her face from being dazzled by the intense light.

The mages and the mercenaries under Robert were prepared and wearing cool black sunglasses. Tiran's iron face had a built-in light filtering effect, so he was unaffected. Only Aya, who witnessed the blinding light, suffered the entire experience...

The feeling was quite painful yet refreshing.

...

"Phew, it should be resolved now, right?" The brightness gradually dimmed, and Robert, at the foot of the slope, took off his sunglasses and looked towards the mountain giant.

It should be resolved, the pure magical blast with a diameter of twenty meters had created a huge hole in the mountain giant's seemingly indestructible body, causing a gaping cavity in its chest. Even for the mountain giant, it couldn't survive such an attack.

...

"Hey, what happened?" Aya, whose vision had not yet fully recovered from the blinding light, rubbed her sore eyes with tears, asking.

"Tsk... this mountain giant is no ordinary one, I have never heard of a mountain giant with this kind of ability." Aya paused upon hearing Tiran's words. Coincidentally, her vision had just returned.

"Holy crap, isn't this just an oversized slime!" Is that coach really a mountain giant and not the slime monster in the script that heals its wounds no matter how many times you hit it?! Why would there be such a twist in the story!

Originally, after being hit by the blast, the mountain giant could only crawl on the ground, relying on its two arms. But now, it was like a giant excavator, digging up large chunks of rocks, soil, and even tree trunks, filling the cavity in its chest. The fillings immediately assimilated upon contact with the mountain giant's body, transforming into the same material – a bluish-grey rock.

With this miraculous healing method, in less than a minute, a third of the massive cavity had been repaired, and the mountain giant's initially weakened aura grew stronger bit by bit.

The one who was more surprised and frustrated than Aya was undoubtedly Robert. What the hell! It took so much effort to cripple this guy, and now it's healed in such a short time? Is there such a cheating ability!

The officer's first reaction was to give up and say, "I can't handle this job anymore, let someone else do it."Unfortunately, the command from above was absolute - we had to stop the city-sized behemoth from appearing around the city.

"Damn it!"

Frustrated, Robert kicked the nearby tree and waved his war hammer: "As long as it's still moving, let's give it another shot. Tell the Magic masters above to recharge and fire again, this time aiming for its head. If its head explodes and it still doesn't die, I'll quit!"

But as he looked up, Robert's face contorted as if he had been whipped.

What? You think the mountain giant can heal itself and recover from a chest wound like nothing? That's because you haven't witnessed something even more astonishing.

The mountain giant, crouched on the ground, began to rise. Its arms slowly extended, assuming a pose reminiscent of a Super Saiyan transformation.

Of course, it didn't transform into a Super Saiyan, but its originally gray-blue body suddenly glowed with blue inscriptions. Circles of intricate engravings intertwined all over its body, and its empty eye sockets lit up with the same blue light.

A blue orb appeared out of thin air in its chest and rapidly expanded.

It wasn't just Robert this time - even the three Magic masters on the hillside lost their composure when they saw this.

This, this wasn't a mountain giant at all! It was a goddamn particle cannon!
