Act 28: Taste my Sword

Three magicians looked at the Emperor's Teeth Luka, who was charging up the grating cannon in the distance... I mean the Rocky Giant, and fell into a three-second silence.

"Um, am I seeing things? Is that the Rocky Giant? It's definitely the Rocky Giant, right?"

"What the hell?! When did the Rocky Giant start firing grating cannons? What kind of world is this?"

"Should we consider retirement...?"

Then the three fell silent again for a moment.

"Well... now doesn't seem like the time to be considering that, does it?" One of the magicians pointed to the energy fluctuation of the magic cannon, which had been charging for ten minutes, that was already approaching them. "Our protective barrier probably won't withstand that."

"Oh, I suddenly remembered that I still haven't collected the laundry at home. I'll go first."

"Well, uh, my apprentice is causing trouble outside again, so I better retreat too..."

Considering the power of the magic cannon they just unleashed, this would probably level the entire hillside if the Rocky Giant fired one. Only an idiot would stay here at a time like this!

"Hey, you over there, you better go too!" One of the magicians kindly greeted the White Knight who was still standing up front, staring at the Rocky Giant.

"Hey, maybe we should retreat too? This thing seems pretty powerful." Aya was getting a bit anxious. If she were still in her dragon form, she could probably withstand a grating cannon blast, but now...

After a quick estimate, she figured her dragon scale would probably last less than 0.3 seconds.

"It's not necessary. We don't need to." Tielan yawned and drew her long sword from her waist, gesturing towards the Rocky Giant in the distance. Her expression was eager to give it a try. "One sword strike should do it."

"..." Aya burst into tears. Mom, I want to go home.

After a roar that shook the heavens and the earth, the grating cannon was fired.

Compared to the magic cannons, the energy impact of the grating cannon was even greater as it instantly swept across the ground and pushed towards the hillside. The ground that was swept over didn't explode, but all the trees and rocks were annihilated in the brightness, leaving behind charred ravines.

Finally, the blast hit the hillside.

...

"Such incredible power... Is Tielan really okay?" In a convoy stationed on the edge of the temporary battlefield, Gottfried stood by a carriage, looking up at the suddenly bright sky along with the rest of the escort knights.

"That is the one thing we don't need to worry about, Your Highness. She is stronger than we knights imagine. We just need to wait for her to finish playing and come back." Mile sighed as she sat on the carriage frame, holding a cup of tea in her hands and an open book on her lap. She looked calm.

...

The huge body provided enough points of attachment for a large number of magical spells. If we were to make a comparison, the grating cannon fired by the Rocky Giant was like an unstoppable tsunami.

But such an attack was shattered before it hit its target.

Tielan lightly raised the sword in her hand, and the massive magical torrent of the grating cannon immediately split apart like a stream encountering a reef, completely failing to hit the hillside.

Instead, the mercenaries who dodged to the sides were almost hit by the aftereffect waves that fell on both sides of the hill, but after Tielan withstood most of the power, the remaining energy could not cause any damage.

After the grating cannon shot, the spells on the giant dimmed, but it was still lively and let out a deafening roar at the humans who blocked its attacks on the hillside.

"Damn, it's so noisy." White Knight Tielan gripped the sword in her hand, bent her knees slightly, and suddenly leaped up, unfolding the ice crystal wings behind her. She skillfully dodged the giant's thrown attack and slashed down with her sword.

"Damn it." Aya's eye twitched slightly. This scene seemed familiar! Speaking of which, she was also knocked out by a single strike in a defenseless situation back then!

A real 40-meter-long sword...

In the azure brilliance, a tens of meters long beam of light took shape. The translucent color revealed a deadly power, falling from mid-air and making Aya recall the fear of being knocked out by a single strike in a defenseless situation.

"Farewell, brother."

Drawing a cross on her chest, Aya could already see the Rocky Giant's end.

Hey, big brother, why did you go and provoke this princess? Isn't that just asking for trouble? But then again, this guy probably had no idea that there was a princess capable of cutting down a giant dragon in one strike here, so it's just really unlucky. The ice blade pierced through the body of the mountain giant, who had proven to be a formidable opponent for the previous dozen or so mercenaries. It cut the giant from top to bottom, splitting it into two halves. The residual frozen air rapidly spread from the cut, freezing the entire giant's body before it shattered. In just a minute, the mountain giant, who had been arrogantly strutting around, turned into a pile of broken rocks on the ground.

If it could still revive after being reduced to this state, the true nature of the mountain giant must be a creature like an amoeba.

Damn it, the princess really went all out with just one sword. She is incredibly powerful.

And judging from this power, the sword she used to cut herself probably showed some mercy.

"Is it...over?"

The three magicians behind looked at each other, still holding the spatial teleportation devices they hadn't had a chance to use yet. From the moment the mountain giant fired its beam cannon towards them until it turned into a pile of rubble, the entire process took less than thirty seconds. They were completely dumbfounded.

They had thought that the white knight who had been standing on the side watching the show was just there to make a cameo...

Equally shocked were the melee team at the foot of the mountain. Except for Robert, everyone else was petrified collectively. If someone could read their minds, they would probably only hear a chorus of "Damn! Damn! Damn!" inside.

Robert also wiped his sweat away while leaning on his hammer. Lady, didn't you say you wanted to hide your identity and keep a low profile? How am I supposed to explain this kind of flamboyant display? But if it weren't for Tiran, it would have been almost impossible for these people alone to conquer the mountain giant.

"Hey, Aya, come here for a moment."

The master-slave contract lit up, and Tiran's voice suddenly rang in Aya's head.

"What's up?" Aya blinked her eyes and looked towards the small mountain of broken rocks on the ground in the distance. Tiran should have landed there.

"Well, it's kind of hard to describe... Anyway, just come over quickly." Tiran's voice sounded a bit strange.

"Huh?" Aya saw Tiran behind the stone mountain. The princess threw her sword aside and was crouching on the ground, propping her chin up and looking intently at something in front of her.

When Aya saw that thing, she was first taken aback, and then she looked at Tiran strangely and said, "What is this? Did you lay an egg... whoops!"

Rubbing her swollen nose from Tiran's punch, Aya carefully looked at the giant stone egg on the ground, with a diameter of about one meter and covered in various strange patterns. After looking at it for a long time, she still couldn't figure out what it could be.

The stone egg had a similar gray-blue color to the mountain giant's body, with an exceptionally smooth surface and a chilly touch. It stood out from the irregular rubble around it.

"It's not your egg... could it be the mountain giant's? Could it be hatching something?" Seeing Tiran's expression turning dark, Aya quickly waved her hands, "Forget it! What I mean is, why not split it open and take a look?"

"This shape... could it suddenly jump out as a monkey?" Tiran covered her face.

"A monkey? Sun Wukong?"

"Damn, you know?"

"Well, when I was in the East, I heard it from a bard... ah, over there they might be called storytellers. There was a storyteller who told this story, it seemed to be called Journey to the West, written by a teacher called Wu... um, something like that," Aya tried to remember.

"What kind of ghostly worldview is this..." Tiran's face showed a very disappointed expression. She picked up her sword from the ground and tapped the surface of the stone egg with the hilt. "Forget it, let's just split it open and have a peace of mind."

But before she could do it, the stone egg made a cracking sound and a crack appeared on its surface.

"Damn, what kind of monster is this!"

Startled by the sudden change, Tiran nervously pointed her sword at the egg, waiting to see if it would make any further moves, like suddenly jumping out as a monkey.

Five minutes passed.

Another five minutes passed.

The stone egg lay quietly on the ground, with no changes other than the crack that had just appeared.

"... "
